• RO016-095 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a slight NW-SE ridge. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 58.5m N-S; 51m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.7m at N to 1.4-1.6m generally). There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. A depression (L 20.5m; Wth 3m; D 0.2-0.5m) running NW-SE in the NW sector may be a collapsed souterrain (RO016-095001-), while an outer scarp (H 1m) 15m outside the perimeter W-NE is the remains of an outer enclosing feature. • RO016-096001 Ritual site - holy well
  Description

  In a hollow on an undulating landscape, and regarded as a holy well c. 1910 (OS Name Books). Described as a circular stone-lined well with an opening to the W (Gannon 1972). It is now a pond (L 30m NE-SW; Wth 8m NW-SE) with two pump-houses in a field known as `Cave Field'.   Description

  Marked as two adjacent `Caves' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map in a field known locally as `Cave Field', and situated in a hollow in an undulating landscape. • RO016-097001 Church
  Description

  The parish church of Kilmacumsy, listed as Kilmire Comsig in the ecclesiastical taxation of Elphin in 1306 (Cal. doc. Ire., vol. 5, 223), is situated in an undulating landscape overlooking lower ground to the S. The church is a rectangular structure (int. dims 12.75m E-W; 5.9m N-S) defined by ivy-covered walls (T. 1m) of large coursed mortared limestone blocks surviving best at the SW angle (H 3m) but reduced to the foundations and overlain by modern field walls along the N and E. There are no architectural features visible. A sandstone bullaun stone (RO016-097002-) (dims 0.8m x 0.8m; H 0.4-0.5m) in the SW corner of the church with an oval basin (dims 0.38m x 0.32m; D 0.14-0.18m) on its upper surface has another basin on the underside. There is no evidence of the graveyard (RO016-097003-) depicted on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a rectangular area (dims c. 40m N-S; c. 30m E-W) S of the church. • RO016-097002 Bullaun stone
  Description

  Earthfast at the SW corner of a church (RO016-097001-). A square sandstone block (dims 0.8m x 0.8m; H 0.4-0.5m) has a central oval depression (dims 0.38m E-W; 0.32m N-S; D 0.14-0.18m).   At the E end of a W-E spur. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 25m) defined by a scarp (H 0.4-0.6m). There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance.   Description

  On a level landscape. Descirbed as a subcircular area (diam. 35m E-W; 29m N-S) defined by a gapped earthen bank, with traces of an outer fosse W-NW (Gannon 1972). It is now visible as a circular grass-covered area (diam. 29m) defined by a fosse (Wth 4m; int. D 0.4-1m; ext. D 0.2m). There is no visible entrance.
