• RO004-009 Megalithic tomb - court tomb
  Description

  On a shelf towards the bottom of the NE-facing slope of a drumlin. The remains of a segmented gallery (dims 4m NW-SE; 2.5m NE-SW) of which the two jamb stones and some sidestones on the SW side survive of the outer chamber. A jamb stone leading to a second chamber to the NW and one sidestone on the SW side of this chamber also survive. These are situated within a rectangular grass-covered stony mound (dims 17m NW-SE; 8m-10m NE-SW; H 0.5m).   Description

  On a shelf of a slight S-facing slope with a N-S stream immediately to the E. Oval grass and scrub-covered area (dims 33m E-W; 24.8m N-S) defined by an overgrown scarp (H 1m at N to 1.9m at E), with a fosse (Wth of top 6.5m; Wth of base 3.2m; int. D 0.75m; ext. D 0.4m) SW-NW which is continued by a berm (Wth 4m) SE-SW. There is no visible entrance. It remains unplanted in a forest (OSAP). Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
