Description
On a low rise in a low-lying landscape. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 32.5m N-S; 30.8m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5m at W to 6.3m at E; int H 0.25m at N to 0.95m at S; ext. H 1.3m at S to 1.6m at W) separated by a fosse (Wth of top 6-6.8m; Wth of base 4-4.7m; D 1.1-1.4m) from an outer bank (Wth 4.7-5.8m; ext. H 0.9-1.3m) with some bushes. There is an entrance (Wth 3m) through both banks at NE. Rath (RO017-054----) is c. 30m to the S. See the attached image taken from the SW with this monument in the left background. Description
On a low rise in a low-lying landscape. Oval grass-covered but poached area (dims 39.5m E-W; 31m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (at E: Wth 2.85m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.7m; at N: Wth 4.4m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1.25m) with some bushes WSW-N-E which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.7m) elsewhere, and an outer fosse (Wth of top 4m; Wth of base 2.5-3.3m; D 0.2-0.4m) N-NE. There is no visible entrance, but an E-W field bank and hedge overlies the interior towards the perimeter at S. Rath (RO017-053----) is c. 30m to the N. - RO011-124 Ringfort - rath
Description
Marked as a circular copse (diam. c. 45m) described as 'Cuilmacosey' in gothic lettering on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and as a hachured feature on the 1911 edition. It is situated on a shelf of a N-facing slope. Circular overgrown area (diam. c. 40m) planted with mature deciduous trees on the perimeter defined by an eroded earthen bank (Wth 4.3-4.8m; int. H 0.1-0.2m; ext. H 0.3-0.6m) E-W-N. There is no visible entrance or fosse, but a modern drain circumscribes the monument. Fortview House is c. 350m to the SE. Description
On top of a low rise in an undulating landscape. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 32m E-W; 27.5m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.6-4.5m; int. H 0.4-0.6m; ext. H 1m) E-S-NW and a scarp (H 1m) at NE, with an outer fosse (Wth of top 5.2-6.5m; D 0.3m at SE) E-ESE and W-NW, which is represented by a berm (Wth 5m) S-W. There is an outer earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.3-0.8m; ext. H 1-1.15m) W-NW, and a possible entrance (Wth 3.5m) at W. The perimeter at N has been quarried away. Description
Marked as an oval area (dims c. 50m NW-SE; c. 35m NE-SW) with scrub only on the 1914 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a shelf towards the bottom of the N-facing slope of a drumlin.
