- SL018-021001 Ringfort - rath
Description
Situated on a rise in pasture, with a gently fall of ground for c. 40m to E to the Dunowla River is c. 40m E. Raised circular area (42.5m N-S; 41.4m E-W) enclosed at NNW-S by a very low bank (Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.1m) which may have been faced with stone. At SSW-NW the bank is incorporated into, or replaced by field fence which marks the boundary between Dunowla and Doonbeakin townlands. At the outer foot of the bank at ENE-SE there is a terrace (Wth 2.5-3m) in the slope of the naturally-occurring rise, bordered on its outer edge at SE by a short length of bank (L 6m; Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.55m; ext. H 0.85m). These features may represent remnants of a fosse and external bank. Within the interior, which slopes down from centre to E, are two possible houses (SL018-021002-; SL018-021003-) and a possible hut site (SL018-021004-). Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 19 January 2011
- SL018-021002 House - indeterminate date
Description
In a rath (SL018-021001-), built against the inner face of the rath bank at S. Slightly raised rectangular area (10.6m E-W; 7.8m N-S) defined on W, N and E sides by a low bank (Wth. 2.8m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.5m), and on the S side by the rath bank. There is another possible house (SL018-021003-) immediately to NE, and a possible hut site (SL018-021004-) to N. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 19 January 2011
- SL018-021003 House - indeterminate date
Description
In the S half of the interior of a rath (SL018-021001-). Subrectangular area (4.6m N-S, c. 15m E–W) defined at N by a low bank (L c. 15m; Wth 3m) which extends E to meet the inner face of the bank at SE. A low bank also defines the W side and the SW corner. It may represent the remains of a house but it may simply be the remnants of an internal division within the rath. It abuts the NE side of another possible house (SL018-021002-), and there is possible hut site (SL018-021004-) to NW. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 19 January 2011
- SL018-021004 Hut site
Description
In the NW quadrant of a rath (SL018-021001-). This possible subrectangular hut site (c. 5m E-W; 4.1m N-S) is defined by a low bank (Wth. 1.6m; H 0.2m) on the S, W and N sides and is open on the E side. Attached to its N side is a slightly raised area (5.3m N–S; c. 5m E-W). There are two possible house sites (SL018-021002-;SL018-021003-) to S and SE, respectively. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 19 January 2011
- SL018-023001 Ringfort - rath
Description
Situated on top of an E-W ridge in pasture. Raised subcircular area (29m N-S; 25m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.25m at NW, 1.5m at SE) with traces of internal stone facing at N. From WSW-WNW the bank has been modified and incorporated into a modern NNW-SSE field boundary. At the outer foot of the bank from SE-SW is a fosse (Wth 2m) with an external bank (c. 4m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1.2m). The external bank has been modified and incorporated into a modern ENE-WSW field boundary. Elsewhere fosse and outer bank are absent. There are breaks in the inner bank at NE (Wth 2m) and E (Wth 2.5m), both of which seem to be of relatively modern origin. A short distance W of the centre of the interior is a subrectangular area defined by a low bank, possibly a house (SL018-23002-). Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 19 January 2011
- SL018-023002 House - indeterminate date

It is subdivided into a slightly deeper, subcircular area at the S end (6m E-W; c. 5.8m N-S) and a rectangular area at the N end (7.6m N-S; 3.8m E-W). Compiled by: Patrick F.
