A 10 year Planning Permission for a solar farm which will connect to the national grid on lands with a total area of circa 127 hectares, consisting of solar panels on ground mounted frames, 28 No. single storey electrical inverter/transformer stations and associated equipment container, security fencing, satellite communications pole, CCTV, upgrading to existing access tracks and new access tracks, temporary construction compounds, landscaping and all associated ancillary development works. Construction and operational access will be via entrances from the L-7111 and L-7112. The operational lifespan of the solar farm will be 35 years. Description
The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of revision: 16 December 2009 Revised by: J. Farrelly According to O'Donovan (OSL 1839, 126), 'small and little frequented burial ground … with faint traces of foundation of Church'. According to two inquisitions held in 1538, belonged to friary at Graney, County Kildare (JKAS 1933, 301-2). Font recorded (JKAS 1933, 302). The church is depicted on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map, roughly centrally placed within a graveyard (CW013-023003-), and is described as being in ruins but by the later OS ed. the church is described as 'Site of'. Neither font nor church remains visible.
