  Atop knoll in pasture. Circular area (diam.. 47m N-S) enclosed by bank (H 1.1m) of earth and stone, levelled NE to S. Site greatly disturbed by clearance.   Description

  Located within the interior of a rath (MA118-021001-). It is recorded by An Archaeological Survey of Ballinrobe and District as 'Mound (Wth 10m; H 1.3m) of earth and stone on E side of interior' (Lavelle 1994, 65, no. 483). Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 14 November 2013

• MA118-157 Fulacht fia
  Description

  In pasture, on the western edge of Ballinrobe town, located close to the N bank of the River Robe. Discovered and subsequently fully excavated (94E0017) in 1994 during the Ballinrobe Sewerage Disposal Scheme. The mound, which appeared to have been levelled in the past, consisted of an oval area (7.5m x 4.5m; T 0.22m) composed of charcoal rich soil and heat-shattered stones. A possible hearth underlay the S end of the mound, and under the N end of the mound there was a natural depression in the limestone bedrock, filled with dark brown soil, which possibly served as a trough. A chert barbed and tanged arrowhead, some flints, a possible hone stone and a sheep tooth were recovered from the mound. A flint flake was recovered from the dark brown layer under the mound.   Description

  End-of-terrace single-bay two-storey house, extant 1838, on a rectangular plan. Now disused. One of a terrace of three. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, overgrown rendered chimney stack (east) having stringcourse below capping, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods on rendered cut-limestone eaves. Rendered battered coursed rubble limestone walls. Square-headed door opening (west) with concealed dressings framing timber panelled door. Square-headed window openings with drag edged dragged cut-limestone sills, and concealed dressings framing six-over-six timber sash windows. Street fronted with concrete footpath to front.
