Permission for works to uprate approximately 35.7km of the overall 35.82km of the existing Athlone to Lanesboro 110 kV overhead line (OHL) circuit located within the administrative boundary within County Roscommon. The proposed development will consist of: • Replacement (“restringing”) and uprating of the conductor along the existing Athlone-Lanesboro 110 kV OHL circuit; • Provision of fibre communication connection on the uprated circuit; • Replacement of 155No. Intermediate Wooden Polesets (IMPs), with similar structures, including poleset stays at 32No. IMPs. The change in structures will result in standardised heights from 16m to 23m along the circuit, the majority of height increases will be between 0.1m and 2.0m (at 125 No. IMPs), with the remainder between 2.1m and 3.7m, and a 4.0m height increase at only one IMP. 3no. IMP replacements will not result in a height change; • Replacement of 25No. Intermediate Wooden Poleset crossarms; • Replacement of 1No. steel angle mast, the replacement structure will result in a height increase of 0.5m; • Foundation strengthening of 9No. steel angle masts, and 1No. end mast; • Bar member replacements to 12No. steel angle masts and 1No. end mast; and, •All associated development including insulator/hardware replacement (suspension clamps and vibration dampers), replacement of signage, painting of angle masts, replacement/installation of anticlimbing guards, access tracks, vegetation clearance, temporary construction compounds and all other works necessary to facilitate the development. Description
On top of a hill. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 37m WNW-ESE; 35.8m NNE-SSW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.7-6.5m; int. H 0.55-0.8m; ext. H 1.1-1.55m), partly obscured by spoil. There is no visible fosse and the entrance cannot be identified. There are lazy-beds and some quarries in the interior. Description
On the crest of the SE-facing slope of a hill. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 34.9m NW-SE; 32.8m NE-SW) defined by a scrub-covered earthen bank (Wth 3.2-4.3m; int. H 0.15-0.9m; ext. H 0.6-0.9m), with an outer fosse (Wth of top 3.9m; Wth of base 1.8m; ext. D 0.5m) WSW-NNW. There is an entrance (Wth 1.5m) at E. Rath (RO045-178----) is c. 110m to the W. Description
On a S-facing slope. Circular grass-covered but poached area (diam. 37.7m NE-SW; 36m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank with whitethorn bushes (at SW: Wth 6.7m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.9m) which is best preserved (at NE: Wth 6m; int. H 1.4m; ext. H 1.2m) NW-S. The entrance (Wth 2.6m) is at S, and there are slight traces of a fosse S-SSW and at N. Description
On a rise on a S-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 30.3m NNE-SSW; 29.7m WNW-ESE) defined by an earthen bank with whitethorn bushes (at NNE: Wth 6.6m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.6m) which is frequently reduced to a scarp (at SSW: H 1.3m), and slight traces of a fosse N-NE. The entrance (Wth 3.4m) is at SSW and field stones lie on the perimeter NE-E-SSW.
