• RO029-018001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a level landscape. Described as an overgrown circular area (diam. 39m E-W; 38m N-S) defined by an earthen bank and rounded fosse (Gannon 1972). It has been removed and replaced by a pond.   Description

  On a level landscape. Described as a D-shaped area defined by an earthen bank and outer fosse (dims 30m N-S; 28.3m E-W) (Gannon 1972). Rath (RO029-018001-) was attached to the W, and cut the perimeter of this site at W. It is no longer visible at ground level. • RO029-022 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 60m) cut by a NE-SW field bank and townland boundary with Farnbeg at NW on the 1837 and 1915 eds. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a level landscape. Gannon (1972) records fragments of an earthen bank and outer fosse at NE and SW, but these are no longer visible at ground level in pasture. Rath (RO029-021----) is c. 140m to the SW. • RO029-068 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Towards the bottom of an E-facing slope with a S-N section of the Scramoge River c. 180m to the E. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 43m N-S; 39m E-W) defined by a flat-topped earthen bank (Wth of base 3.4-4m; Wth of top 1.3-2m; int. H 0.6-1m; ext. H 1-1.4m) which has three deciduous trees on it and is reduced to a low scarp E-S. The shallow fosse (Wth of top 5.8-6m; Wth of base 2.4-3m; D 0.3-0.4m) cannot be traced SW-WNW. There are five gaps (Wth 1.6-6m) in the bank, none of which can be identified as original. Rath (RO028-067----) is c. 180m to the WSW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

  Description

  On a level landscape. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 38m NE-SW; c. 38m NW-SE) defined by a scarp (at NE: Wth 2m; H 1.1m) with the remains of an earthen bank (Wth of base 5.5m; Wth of top 2m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.8m) at SW. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance, and the monument is slightly truncated by a NW-SE farm track at S. Rath (RO028-0021----) is c. 180m to the NNW.
