• RO009-019 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  At the W end of an E-W ridge. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 45.8m N-S; 41.7m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.6-4m; int. H 0.5m generally to 1m at E; ext. H 1.2-1.4m) NE-S and WNW-N, and by a scarp (H 0.9m generally to 1.3m at S) elsewhere. A berm (Wth 6.3-7.3m) separates it from an outer bank (Wth 3-4m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.6-1m) WSW-NNE. There are modern entrances at NE (Wth 6.3m) and S (Wth 6m). The large enclosure (RO009-020----) is c. 130m to the SSE. See the attached aerial view taken from the W. • RO009-020 Enclosure - large enclosure
  Description

  Visible on aerial photographs (ACAP: V221, 145-46) as two concentric circular features situated on a rise in a flat E-W valley with E-W ridges c. 500m to the N and S. This is a circular grass-covered mound (diam. 24m E-W; 23m N-S; H 0.3-1m) surrounded by a berm (Wth 3-15m) defined by a slight scarp (H c. 0.1m). This is on the perimeter at SW of a circular enclosure (diam. c. 90m) defined by the narrow vegetation mark of a fosse, but this feature is not visible at ground level. It may be an elaborate ceremonial enclosure. Rath (RO009-019----) is c. 130m to the NNW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

• RO009-021 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In a low-lying position on a slight S-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 42.5m E-W; 41.5m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.3-4.5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.3m) WNW-ENE, and a scarp (H 0.4m at E to 1.6m at S) elsewhere. A fosse (Wth of base 5-5.8m; D 0.1m at E to 0.9m at N) is visible SW-N-SE, with the remains of an outer bank (Wth 3.8-4m; H 0.3m at SE to 0.8m at SW) SE-SSE and SW-WSW. There is no visible entrance.   Description

  On the crest of an E-W ridge. Described as a circular area (diam. 31m E-W) defined by a defaced earthen bank, with traces of a fosse W-N (Gannon 1972).   Description

  On a slight rise in a low-lying landscape. Circular grass-covered but poached area (diam. 21m) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.4-0.5m; ext. H 1m) NE-E and by an overgrown scarp (H 0.4-0.6m) elsewhere, with the remains of a fosse (Wth of base 4m at SW to 9m at N; D 0.3m) SW-W-NE and an outer bank (Wth c. 6.5m; H 0.5-0.8m) WNW-NE.
