Permission for works to uprate approximately 35.7km of the overall 35.82km of the existing Athlone to Lanesboro 110 kV overhead line (OHL) circuit located within the administrative boundary within County Roscommon. The proposed development will consist of: • Replacement (“restringing”) and uprating of the conductor along the existing Athlone-Lanesboro 110 kV OHL circuit; • Provision of fibre communication connection on the uprated circuit; • Replacement of 155No. Intermediate Wooden Polesets (IMPs), with similar structures, including poleset stays at 32No. IMPs. The change in structures will result in standardised heights from 16m to 23m along the circuit, the majority of height increases will be between 0.1m and 2.0m (at 125 No. IMPs), with the remainder between 2.1m and 3.7m, and a 4.0m height increase at only one IMP. 3no. IMP replacements will not result in a height change; • Replacement of 25No. Intermediate Wooden Poleset crossarms; • Replacement of 1No. steel angle mast, the replacement structure will result in a height increase of 0.5m; • Foundation strengthening of 9No. steel angle masts, and 1No. end mast; • Bar member replacements to 12No. steel angle masts and 1No. end mast; and, •All associated development including insulator/hardware replacement (suspension clamps and vibration dampers), replacement of signage, painting of angle masts, replacement/installation of anticlimbing guards, access tracks, vegetation clearance, temporary construction compounds and all other works necessary to facilitate the development. Description
Towards the top of the NE-facing slope of a NW-SE ridge. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 54.23m NE-SW; 44.5m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank with some bushes (at SW: Wth 2.6m; int. H 0.95m; ext. H 0.5m) E-N-W (upslope) which is reduced to a scarp (at NE: H 1.25m) elsewhere. There are slight traces of a fosse ENE-ESE, SE-SSE and NW-NNW, and the only entrance (Wth 3.2m) is at W. It is besected by a NW-SE field wall. Rath (RO042-094001-) and cashel (RO042-094002-) are c. 155m to the W. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

Description
In a broad NW-SE flat-bottomed valley. A small castle at the NE edge of Tibberdan, which would include Kellybrook, is marked on the Strafford map of c. 1636, and Christopher Jones of Caldragh owned 307 acres there in 1641 but this had passed to William Handcock by 1662 (Simington 1949, 115, Athlone (262)). This is a grass-covered cairn of rubble (dims 19.6m NNE-SSW; 17m WNW-ESE; max. H 2.6m) with one wall visible (L 3m T 0.75m) and a large piece of masonry is protruding from the mound (H 2.25m). It is within an oval grass-covered enclosure (RO042-102002-) (dims 90m NE-SW; 60m NW-SE) defined by a fosse (Wth of top 3.5-4m; int. D 0.2-0.35m; ext. D 0.1m) SW-N and by a low bank (at SE: Wth 3m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.2m) or scarp (H 0.2m) elsewhere. It has no identifiable original entrance. Description
In a broad, flat-bottomed NW-SE valley. The castle (RO042-102001-) is within an oval grass-covered enclosure (dims 90m NE-SW; 60m NW-SE) defined by a fosse (Wth of top 3.5m-4m; int. D 0.2m-0.33m; ext. D 0.1m) SW-N and by a low bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.2m) or scarp (H 0.2m) elsewhere. It has no identifiable original entrance. Description
On the crest of a NNW-SSE ridge. Circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 36.9m E-W; 36.2m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (at N: Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.8m) and an outer fosse (Wth of base 2m; ext. D 0.2m) NW-N, the bank being incorporated into a scrub-covered field bank elsewhere. There is no identifiable original entrance, but the NW (L 3.5m) and NE (L 2.2m) walls of a house site (RO045-035002-) defined by the grass-covered base of the walls (Wth c. 1m) abut the inner edge of the bank at SW. Description
Marked only on the 1915 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a SW-facing slope of a NW-SE valley. Circular grass-covered area (int. diam. 7.1m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 1.7-2.9m; int. H 0.3-0.6m; ext. H 0.1m at NW to 0.9m at SE) with traces of inner facing-stones at SE. Description
On the crest of a SW-facing slope of a NW-SE valley. Circular grass-covered area (ext. diam. 35.1m NW-SE; 34.8m NE-SW) defined by the base of a double-faced wall (at ESE: Wth 2m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.45m) NE-SSW with a rebuilt drystone wall on top of it elsewhere. There is no identifiable original entrance but there is a house site (RO045-044002-) (int. dims 4.2m NW-SE; 1.4-2.4m NE-SW) defined by rock outcrop and stone walls at the centre, and the interior is overlain by some grass-covered walls. Description
On a shelf of a W-facing slope, overlooking a NW-SE valley. Circular grass-covered area (int. diam. 22.7m N-S; 22.6m E-W) defined by the base of a stone wall (Wth 1-1.7m) with intermittently visible facing-stones (dims c. 0.6m x 0.6m; H 0.3m) S-W-NE, and a scarp down to the interior (H 0.3-0.4m) elsewhere. There is no identifiable original entrance, but a relict field bank (RO045-234002-) (Wth c. 3m; H 0.3m), which extends out to the NE and N, is attached to the perimeter at NE.
