Description
On the summit of the W end of a slight E-W ridge. Raised circular, grass-covered area (diam. of top 28.1m E-W; 27.2m N-S; diam. of base 35.5m N-S; 33.3m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.65m at E to 1.6-1.7m generally). Description
Marked only on the 1928 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a hachured feature (diam. c. 12m), and situated on a gentle SW-facing slope. Grass-covered and stone-strewn subrectangular area (int. dims 6.6m NW-SE; 5.7m NE-SW) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth of top 0.8-1.3m; Wth of base 2.7-3.2m; H 0.2-0.55m). Description
Marked as a church ruin on Taylor and Skinners map of 1783 (Andrews 1969, 238), and it is known locally as Ardkieran. This was a chapel-of-ease to Fuerty parish church (RO039-063001-), and it is situated on a broad ridge at the N extremity of the parish. There are slight traces of a rectangular structure (int. dims 5.6m E-W; 3.2m N-S) defined by scarps at the centre of a wedge-shaped graveyard (RO035-074002-) (dims 28m E-W at S to 70m E-W at N; c. 40m N-S) defined by masonry walls. Rath (RO035-072----) and house (RO035-073----) are c. 150m and c. 50m to the N respectively, and rath (RO039-004----) is c. 90m to the SW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

The church of Ardkieran (RO035-074001-) was a chapel-of-ease to Fuerty (RO039-063001-) and is located on a broad ridge. There are slight traces of a rectangular structure at the centre of a wedge-shaped graveyard (dims 28m E-W at S to 69m E-W at N; c. 40m N-S) defined by masonry walls. Description
On a slight N-facing slope. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 29.8m N-S; 28.2m E-W) defined by a flat-topped earthen bank (Wth of base 4.2m; Wth of top 1m; int. H 0.25-0.45m; ext. H 1.2-1.5m) W-NE and by a scarp (H 0.8m) SSE-W. The straight E side has been truncated by a scarp (H 0.2m) associated with a N-S road. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. Description
On top of a rise. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 34.8m E-W; 34m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4-4.6m; int. H 0.2-0.4m; ext. H 1.35-1.4m) with some bushes, which is reduced to a scarp (H 1.4m) SSW-NW. There is no visible fosse, but there is an entrance (Wth 1.2m) at NNW. Description
On a broad ridge. Circular grass-covered platform (diam. 37.4m NE-SW; H 0.6-0.7m generally to 1.2m at SW) separated by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 5.5-7m; Wth of base 2.2-4.3m; D 0.5-0.8m) from an outer bank (Wth 1.6-3.4m; H 0.35-0.7m) which has been removed at SE and slightly truncated by a NW-SE field bank at NE (max. ext. diam. 52.7m NE-SW). Description
At the W edge of a low WNW-ESE ridge. Circular grass-covered platform (diam. 31.1m N-S; 29.3m E-W) sloping down to the E, defined by a scarp (H 0.35m at E to 1.25m at W). There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance, but the monument is overlain by an E-W field bank towards the perimeter at N. The entrance to souterrain (RO039-006002-) is inside the perimeter at NW and the entrance to souterrain (RO039-00603-) is inside the perimeter at SW. Description
The present entrance (Wth 1m; H 0.5m) inside the perimeter of rath (RO039-006001-) at NW leads into a slightly curving ENE-WSW lintelled passage (L 6.5m; max. Wth 1.6m; max. H 1.3m), the original entrance to which was at the E end. A creep (Wth 0.88m; H 0.3m; L 1.1m) towards the W end of the S wall leads into an inaccessible NNW-SSE passage. Description
The entrance (Wth 1.3m; H 0.3m) to an inaccessible S-N passage is inside the perimeter of rath (RO039-006001-) at SW. From the present entrance a hollow (dims 8.3m NW-SE; 5.3m NE-SW; D 0.3-0.7m), probably a destroyed passage, runs off to the SE. The entrance to souterrain (RO039-006002-) is c. 14m to the N and it is unlikely that the two souterrains are connected and part of a single souterrain.
