  Description

  On a slight rise of a S-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 44m N-S; c. 40m E-W) defined by an earthen bank and hedge (Wth 4m; H 0.6-1m) SE-W-N with traces of internal facing- stones. The perimeter has been removed N-SE, and the spoil added to the inside of the surviving bank. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance.   Description

• RO051-022 Barrow - ring-barrow
  Description

  Just S of the summit of Sheep Hill which has a trig. station The name of this hill was recorded in Irish by John O'Donovan in the 1830s as Cnoc Loinge - Ship hill (Herity 2010, 15). The barrow is a circular grass-covered mound containing some stone (diam. 3.8m; H 0.1-0.3m) and with a slight hollow (diam. 1.7m) defined by a slight fosse (Wth of base 0.6m; ext. D 0.2-0.3m) and outer bank (Wth 2m; H 0.1m) (max. ext. diam. 9m). The possible rath (RO051-021----) is c. 100m to the E and wayside cross (RO051-023----) is c. 80m to the SSW.   Description

  Marked only on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m), and situated on a slight knoll in an undulating landscape.   Description

  Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 40m) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a rise in an undulating landscape with field walls.   Description

  Visible on aerial photographs (GSIAP: M 229-30), and situated on a SW-facing slope in an undulating landscape. Described in 1995 (SMR file) as a circular grass-covered area (int. diam. 24m N-S; 23m E-W) defined by a grass-covered stone spread (Wth 2-3.5m; max. H 0.3m). There were no visible facing-stones or an identifiable original entrance. Old field walls (Wth c. 2m; H 0.1m) run from the centre to the perimeter at N and W, and a small subrectangular enclosure (dims 7m-10m N-S; 5m E-W) is attached to the N-bound wall.   Description

  Visible on aerial photographs (GSIAP: M 229-30), and situated on a local rise in an undulating landscape. Described in 1995 (SMR file) as a circular, slightly domed and grass-covered area (int. diam. 33m E-W; 31.5m N-S) defined by the grass-covered remnants of a stone wall (Wth 1.5-2m; H 0.2-0.5m), which was best preserved S-NNW but reduced to a low scarp NE-S.
