• RO017-111 Enclosure
  Description

  Towards the bottom of the fairly steep N-facing slope of a drumlin overlooking the S shore of Tully Lough. Known locally to have been a 'fort' and described as two small ringforts (diam. c. 30m) (NMI file), two small fields are marked on the 1837 and 1914 eds of the OS 6-inch map. No feature is visible at ground level in improved pasture and scrub, but excavation by F. Moore revealed a fosse (Wth c. 5m) S-W with some posts and cairn material in the interior. • RO017-112 Crannog
  Description

  Towards the SE end of tear-shaped Tully Lough (dims. c. 600m NW-SE, c. 120m NE-SW at SE to c. 400m NE-SW at NW), c. 50m from the S shore. Circular overgrown island (diam. 20m) of earth and stones (H 0.4m) with two upright posts visible underwater at SE and several horizontal timbers also visible underwater SW-WNW. Quernstone fragments are at the centre. Crannog (RO017-109----) is c. 320m to the WNW, and crannog (RO017-110----) is c. 190m to the NW. See the attached aerial view taken from the NE. • RO018-015 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On the crest of a NW-SE drumlin ridge, at the SE end. Described in 1952 as a circular area (diam. c. 37m N-S; c. 36m E-W) defined by an earthen bank and outer fosse SW-N-SE, with the perimeter reduced to a scarp elsewhere. The entrance and causeway were at NE (NMI file). The site was removed in 1971-2 (Gannon 1972), and is no longer visible at ground level in pasture. Rath (RO018-016001*) is c. 170m to the SSW.   Description

  On the gentle SW-facing slope of a drumlin. Described in 1952 as a circular area (diam. 45m N-S; 44m E-W) defined by an earthen bank which was best preserved N-E, with a fosse NW-E-SE and an entrance at NW (NMI file). It is now visible as a circular grass-covered area (diam. 45m E-W; 44m N-S) defined by a low earthen bank (Wth 5.4m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.2m) and outer fosse (Wth of top 3.2m; Wth of base 2.1m; D 0.3m) NNW-NE, and by a scarp (H 0.8-1m) elsewhere. Rath (RO018-015----) is c. 170m to the NNE.   Description

  On a gentle E-facing slope. Circular scrub-covered area (diam. 32m E-W; 31m N-S) defined by an overgrown flat-topped earthen bank (Wth of base 2.4-2.6m; Wth of top 1.9-2.2m; int. H 0.5m; ext.
