Description
Visible on aerial photographs (ACAP V227/29-30), it is situated on a terrace overlooking the S bank of the W-E Boyle River and runs W-E from Assylin Church (RO005-020001-) on the S bank and immediately N of the railway line. A low bank or carriageway (L c. 150m E-W; Wth 4-5m; H 0.2-1m) is accompanied by two parallel grass-covered linear depressions (Wth 6.7-12.6m; D 0.5-1.5m), one on either side which merge into a single feature (Wth 23m; D 1.6-3m) at the W end, probably because of quarrying. Description
On flat ground at the bottom of a N-facing bluff (H c. 6m) and c. 50m from the SW bank of the NW-SE Boyle River where Ath Carpait, the ford of the chariot, may have been (FitzPatrick 1998, 354). A subcircular well (dims 1.4m NE-SW; c. 1m NW-SE) is covered by a D-shaped, masonry structure (ext. dims 2m NE-SW; 1.72m NW-SE) with a cement roof (max. H 1.05m) which is surmounted by a modern Latin cross. The well has a rectangular opening (Wth 0.65m; H 0.45m) to the NE, but there is no evidence of veneration. An oval piece of limestone (RO006-066002-) (dims 0.75m x 0.35m; H 0.3-0.4m) with two natural depressions on its upper surface is set in the ground 3.2m NE of the well and is regarded as having the knee-impressions of St Patrick. On flat ground overlooking the S bank of the W-E Boyle River, which is c. 180m distant at its closest point, and within Boyle town. Subcircular platform (dims 29m N-S; 27m E-W), which spans three back-gardens, defined by a scarp (H 1m at N to 1.9m at W), but much of the central part was removed in 1974 (SMR file) and only the perimeter E-W, and an arc of the perimter at N remains. Triple-arch stone bridge, built c.1864, carrying traffic over the River Boyle, with upstream and downstream cutwaters. Comprising random coursed cut stone walls with tooled stone coping, string courses and voussoirs to segmental arch-rings. Balustrades to parapets above central arch.

Description
Detached single-storey gable-fronted Church, built in 1858, with four-bay nave, advanced entrance porch to north and corridor wing to east connecting with adjacent manse. Modern extension to rear of corridor. Church abutted by outbuilding to rear with corrugated-iron roof. Pitched slate roof to church with bellcote to north gable. Cast-iron rain water goods with decorative lip and square-profiled down pipes. Dressed limestone walls laid to courses. Tooled cut stone quoins and window surrounds. Ashlar surround to window and door openings. Round-headed timber sash windows with stone sills. Timber battened door with fanlight and round-headed sidelights to east corridor. Timber panelled double doors to main entrance surmounted by decorative fanlight and with slightly-projecting carved stone doorcase with archivolt, keystone, step and threshold. Flanking windows of nave have same detailing. Building elevated above street level with limestone walls to street surmounted by cast-iron railings. Date plaque above entrance porch stating 'Presbyterian Church 1858'.

Description
Detached three-bay two-storey courthouse, built c.1830, with flanking recessed single-storey entrance bays. Hipped slated roof with rendered chimneystacks to rear. Tooled coursed cut stone façade. Giant-order pilasters to façade with string course, cornice and round-headed recessed blind doorways, end bays having fanlights. Memorial plaque to Count Plunkett to central bay. Marble plaque to north bay with bust in relief of 'An Piarsagh' (sic) (Patrick Pearse, leader of the 1916 Rising). Stone panels with shield devices above entrance doors with chains hung like garlands. Timber sash windows with stone sills to upper storey. Courthouse approached by a flight of limestone steps.

Freestanding cast-iron water-pump, erected c.1860, comprising fluted shaft, fluted cap with acorn finial and lion's head spout and cast-iron bucket stand to base. Now disused. Located next to court house.

Description
Freestanding three-stage limestone tower with clock, erected c.1880, by the tenants of the Boyle and Rockingham Estate to the memory of the Honourable Laurence Harman King-Harman, second son of the Viscount Lorton who died 1875. Comprised of battered base with roughly-dressed coursed stone with ashlar pilasters at the angles surmounted by entablature with garland-decorated frieze. Upper part has clock-faces set between fluted pilasters supporting cornice, surmounted by third stage with sculpted tympanums and curved stone roof topped with stone ball finial. Formerly louvres in openings between clock and pediments. Mechanised clock mounted to tower, c.1920, but replaced with electrical clock in 1979. Varirous plaques set into base of monument. Situated in pedestrian area of The Crescent.

Detached four-bay two-storey railway station, built c.1862 by the M.G.W.R. as part of the Sligo Branch railway line. Canopy to platform and three-bay single-storey building attached to west of canopy. Hipped slated roof with rendered chimneystacks. Snecked limestone walls withcut stone plinth course and dressings. Segmental-headed recessed window and door openings to main building having cut stone surrounds, replacement uPVC windows with stone sills and replacement timber and glazed door. Canopy supported by square-profiled timber pillars. Sandstone flagstones still in-situ below canopy. Timber seats under canopy. Building to west of canopy has openings with tooled stone surrounds, concrete sills and replacement timber windows. Single-storey addition to west gable with brick chimneystack. Access onto platform via a square-headed entrance way to east or through wrought-iron gate to west. Station and platform bounded by a squared limestone wall with brick dressings to openings.

Detached three-bay single-storey former waiting room, built c.1860 by the M.G.W.R. as part of the Sligo Branch railway line. Now used for storage. Pitched slate roof with carved timber bargeboards and pointed finials to gables, slate canopy with timber brackets over entrance. Snecked limestone walls with brick quoins, rendered plinth and brick dressings to openings. Segmental-headed window openings with stone sills and oculus windows to gables with brick surrounds. Timber battened double doors. Tarmacadam to platform surface with stone kerb and random coursed stone retaining wall.

Description
Detached three-bay two-storey signal box with water tower to east, built c.1860 by the M.G.W.R. as part of the Sligo Branch railway line. Signal box with pitched slated roof with timber bargeboards. Red brick to ground floor with plinth course and with timber-clad first floor. Segmental brick arched openings with fixed windows and stone sills to ground floor, square-headed entrance opening with timber and glazed door to west elevation. Replacement windows to first floor and timber battened door accessed by modern metal steps. Snecked rock-faced former water tower with stepped parapet and round-arched opening with timber battened door.
