  Description

  Marked as an oval embanked and wooded enclosure (ext. dims c. 70m NE-SW; c. 50m NW-SE) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and as a small oval wood (dims c. 60m NE-SW; c. 35m NW-SE) on the 1914 ed. Situated on a gentle SE-facing slope. Oval grass-covered area (dims 45.8m N-S; 31.9m E-W) with some tree-stumps defined by a low overgrown earthen bank (Wth 3.6-5m; int. H 0.2-0.3m; ext. H 0.5-1.4m) and outer fosse (Wth of top 4.1-4.6m; Wth of base 2-2.4m; D 0.4-0.6m), both of which have been removed SSW-WSW to create a pond. There is no identifiable original entrance. • RO023-095001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a gentle SE-facing slope. Circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 43.8m N-S; 41.6m E-W) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 3.8-6m; int. H 0.2m at E to 1.4m at W; ext. H 0.7m at E and W to 1.4m at N), with traces of inner facing-stones NNE-ENE. There is an overgrown outer fosse (Wth of top 5.6-7.8m; Wth of base 2.9-3.5m; D 0.9m) SSW-N-ENE which has been deepened into a pond NE-ENE, probably removing the holy well (RO023-095002-). There is a modernised entrance (Wth 4m) at SW and scrub from the interior has been cleared onto the perimeter. Rath (RO023-094----) is c. 125m to the NNW, and the possible rath (RO023-096----) is c. 200m to the SSE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

  Description

  Marked on the 1837 and 1914 eds of the OS 6-inch map at the NE edge of rath (RO023-095001-), and described as a holy well known as 'Toberabrilloge' (OS Name Books).   Marked as a D-shaped embanked and wooded enclosure (ext. dims c. 45m E-W; c. 40m N-S) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a gentle N-facing slope. It is not visible at ground level in pasture. Rath (RO023-095001-) is c. 200m to the NNW, and holy well (RO023-097001-) is c. 130m to the NE.   Description

  Marked on the 1837 and 1914 eds of the OS 6-inch map and describe as 'Toberpatrick' on both. Situated on a level landscape. This is a rectangular well (dims 0.9m E-W; 0.6m N-S; D 0.2m) which is now choked with vegetation within a rectangular enclosure (RO023-097003-) (ext. dims 10.6m E-W; 5.4m N-S) defined by masonry walls (Wth 0.55m; H 1m) which has a gateway (Wth 1.4m) at E. There is a rectangular limestone trough (RO023-097002-) (dims 1.3m x 0.5m; H 0.3m; D 0.2m) nearby, but there is no evidence of veneration at the well.   On a level landscape. There is a rectangular limestone trough (ext. dims 1.3m x 0.5m; H 0.3m; int. dims 1.15m x 0.35m; D 0.2m) at the holy well (RO023-097001-), but there is no evidence of a stone said to have the imprint of St Patrick's knee (Gannon 1972).   Description

  On a slight E-facing slope in a low-lying landscape. Oval grass-covered area (dims 39.3m E-W; 28.3m N-S) defined by three overgrown earthen banks. The slight inner bank (Wth 5.2-5.8m; int. H 0.2-0.4m; ext. H 0.1m at W to 1.4m at E) is separated by a fosse (Wth of top 5.6m at W to 9.6m at E; Wth of base 2.4-3.8m; D 0.9m at W to 1.4-1.9m generally) from a large central bank (Wth 6.3m at W to 9.7m at E; ext. H 1.2-1.7m). A second fosse (Wth of top 6.6-7m; Wth of base 2.1-3m; D 0.5-0.6m) SE-W-E separates this from an outer bank (Wth 3.7m; ext. H 0.7m) which has a third fosse (Wth of base 2.1m; D 0.4m), both of which only survive WSW-NW. There is an entrance through the inner (Wth 3m) and central (Wth 4m) banks with a causeway at ESE (max. surviving dims c. 80m E-W; c. 68m N-S). The possible rath (RO023-128----) is c. 90m to the SE.
