  Description

  Situated on a gentle S-facing slope a short distance N of the Leaffony River. Raised circular area (diam. 21m N-S) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 3m; H 0.5m) which has been largely levelled at N and E. Original entrance not recognisable.   Not marked on the 1837 edition of the OS 6-inch map. Situated on a low rise immediately NE of a tract of poorly drained pasture.   Description

  In pasture, located on low rise. Slightly raised circular area (26.4m N–S; 23m E–W) defined NW–N by an earthen bank (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.6m) and elsewhere by a slight scarp. A rectangular area (5m E–W; 7m N–S) has been quarried out of the SW quadrant. A field fence, on a NNE–SSW axis, bisects the interior, slightly E of centre, and another field fence, on a roughly E–W axis, abuts the rath at S. • SL011-060 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, located on a low rise in gently undulating terrain. Raised circular area (diam. c. 30m) defined by a scarp. The rath is bisected roughly centrally by a field fence, on a N–S axis. A second field fence extends to ESE from the N–S fence, cutting across the NE edge of the rath. To E of the N–S fence the rath is almost entirely obscured by blackthorn bushes. The W half of the rath is grass-covered but the perimeter at S–NW has been partly quarried away. A short section of earthen bank survives at NW. At S–NW there is an external ditch or fosse (ext. D 0.6m), varying in width from c. 4-6m, with a low bank (Wth 1m) of upcast soil on its external edge in parts.   Description

  In pasture, located on a low rise in gently undulating terrain. Raised circular area (diam. 27.5 NNE–SSW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.5m, at N) which is best preserved on the N half of the rath. On the 1913 OS 6-inch map the rath is shown enclosed by a fosse and external bank. A slight depression outside the bank at N may indicate the fosse but the external bank has been removed. At E–S a field fence skirts the rath possibly following the line of the original external bank. • SL011-062001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, located on a low rise in gently undulating terrain. Raised circular area (diam. 28.5) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.8m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.5m, at N). There are remnants of stone facing on the inner face of the bank at NE and possibly on the outer face at NNW. At S–W a shallow fosse (Wth c. 3m; ext. D 0.6m) is evident with ephemeral traces of a levelled external bank (Wth c. 4m) at W. The entrance may have been at E where there is a low section of bank, now blocked by stone facing. An oval or subrectangular house (SL011-062003-) is located off-centre to S within the level interior. A low bank (Wth 1.4m; H 0.2m) extends from the W side of the house to the rath bank at SW, and traces of another bank extend from the E side of the house towards the rath bank at E. According to local information (SMR file), there is a souterrain (SL011-062002-) in the rath. There is a small area of quarrying or disturbance immediately to NW of the rath.   Located in a rath (SL011-062001-). According to local information (SMR file), there is a collapsed souterrain (SL011-062002-) within the rath. A few small surface hollows or holes close to and on the bank at SW may indicate the location. There is also a house (SL011-062003-) in the rath interior.   Description

  Located off-centre to S within the level interior of a rath (SL011-062001-). The house consists of a an oval or subrectangular area (10m N–S; 4.3m E–W) defined by a low sod-covered bank (Wth 1.3m; H 0.4m). A low bank (Wth 1.4m; H 0.2m) extends from the W side of the house to the rath bank at SW, and traces of another bank extend from the E side of the house towards the rath bank at E.   Description

  Detached five-bay single-storey thatched house, built c. 1880. Single-storey gabled entrance porch. Thatched roof with raised ridge, concrete verges, painted smooth-rendered chimneystacks with mortar aprons. Pitched slate roof to porch, clay ridge tiles, extruded profiled aluminium gutters. Lime-washed smooth-rendered walling. Square-headed window openings, smooth-render slightly-projecting reveals, painted stone sills, painted two-over-two timber sash windows. Square-headed door openings, painted vertically-sheeted timber doors. Set perpendicular to road, small garden to west bounded by hedge and lime-washed dry stone wall, various outbuildings to east with pitched corrugated-iron roof to stables and pitched slate roof to hay-loft accessed by external flight of stone steps.
