• SL011-007001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated in good pasture overlooking the Atlantic Ocean a short distance below. Slightly raised circular area (diam. c. 32m) enclosed from SSW-W-N by a largely levelled bank (0.1-0.4m) of earth and stone with evidence for both internal and external stone facing in places. Two very large boulders are incorporated into the bank at NNW and at N. Built into the external face of the bank at SW is a semi-circular structure (SL011-007004-) defined by the remains of a drystone wall which may be the remains of an animal shelter. The modern entrance is at SE but the original entrance is not recognisable. Most of the S half of the interior is occupied by a possible house site (SL011-007003-). • SL011-007003 House - indeterminate date
  Description

  Situated within a rath (SL011-007001-). An almost square, raised stone platform (13.4m NNW-SSE; 13m ENE-WSW; max H 0.3m) occupies most of the S half of the interior of the rath. Its NNW and SSE sides are defined by the remains of low banks of earth and stone. Elsewhere the defining element is degraded scarp (H 0.2m - 0.6m).   Description

  Description

• SL011-110 Megalithic structure
  Description

  Situated on slight E facing slope, on broad slight rise in pasture. Site has been disturbed and N half has been removed. Remains comprise a roughly semi-circular setting (diam. 4.8m) of seven upright stones (av. Wth 0.4m; T 0.2m; H 0.4-0.8m). Seven loose stones, that were probably originally upright, are strewn across the site. The original nature of this feature is uncertain. It has not been possible to determine either an entrance or orientation to the remains.   Description

  Five-span limestone road-over-river bridge, built c. 1800. Uncoursed rubble stone walling rising to parapets, rubble stone copings. Round-headed arches, dressed stone voussoirs, roughly-coursed triangular cutwaters with concrete caps. Bitmac carriageway. Spans east-west across Finned River.

• Finned House, house, 1830–1850 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached three-bay two-storey limestone house, built c. 1840. Pitched artificial slate roof, clay ridge tiles, concrete chimneystacks 2004, half-round cast-iron gutters at eaves. Painted smooth-rendered walling (removed from front elevation). Square-headed window openings, smooth-rendered reveals, stone sills, uPVC casement windows 2004. Round-headed entrance door opening, painted timber four-panel door, sunburst fanlight. Located near bend in road, surrounded by fields to all sides, dry stone wall with metal gate to east, farmyard with single- and two-storey outbuildings to north.

• Streamlet Villa, house, 1850–1870 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached five-bay single-storey thatched house, built c. 1860. Pitched straw thatched roof, raised scalloped ridge, concrete skews, unpainted smooth-rendered flat-capped chimneystacks. Painted smooth-rendered walling, raised quoins. Square-headed window openings, painted stone sills, painted two-over-two timber sash windows. Square-headed centrally-placed door opening, plain-glazed overlight, painted four-panel timber door c. 1990. Two-storey rubble limestone outbuilding to north-west with pitched slate roofs, square-headed door and window openings, flight of cut limestone external steps to first floor level south gable. Set back from road, smooth-rendered boundary wall to east, flat-bar wrought-iron gates, dry stone boundary wall to rear south and west. Single-storey lean-to limestone rubble stone outbuilding to north set perpendicular to road. Surrounded by farmland with narrow stream across road to east.
