• SL047-064 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, on top of a ridge. A raised circular area (int. diam. 38m) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 1.5m; ext. H 1.5m), overgrown with bushes, and an external waterlogged fosse (Wth 4.5m; D 0.5m). The entrance (Wth 3.5m) is at SE with a causeway across the fosse. The level damp interior is bisected by a collapsing N-S stone wall. • SL047-070001 Barrow - ring-barrow
  Description

  In poorly drained rush-covered grazing, on top of a narrow ridge. A slightly raised circular area (6.7m N-S; 6.6m E-W) enclosed by two earthen banks with an intervening fosse. The inner bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.5m) has a low internal face. The fosse (Wth 2m) is shallow and flat-bottomed and marginally raised above exterior ground level. The outer bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.3m) is evident as a low compact rise with a well-defined external face. The overall diameter is 15m N-S and 15.5m E-W and it is almost completely engulfed in rushes. A ring-barrow (SL047-071----) lies c. 55m to E. This ring-barrow is indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map.   Description

  In poorly drained rush-covered grazing, on top of a narrow E-W ridge. A slightly raised circular area (6.8m N-S; 6.8m E-W; H 0.4m) enclosed by a fosse and external bank. The fosse (Wth c. 3m) is shallow and waterlogged. The bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.35m) is broad, low and poorly defined. A break (Wth 4m) in the bank at W, opposite a relatively dry section of the fosse, may be the result of damage rather than the location of an entrance. A ring-barrow (SL047-070001-) lies c. 55m to W. • SL047-072 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, straddling a slight rise at the base of a S-facing ridge. A slightly raised circular area (28.7m N-S; 26.7m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. 0.6m) SW-E and by a scarp (H 0.4m) elsewhere. A possible entrance (Wth 2.7m) is at NE and several other breaks occur in the bank, mostly due to erosion by cattle. A large gap (Wth 7.4m) at N allows machinery access to the interior. An external fosse (Wth c. 2.6m) is evident SW-NW as a shallow depression marked by rushes. The S portion of the interior is raised slightly to compensate for the hillslope though there is still a slight slope down to S.
