• TS057-010 Barrow - stepped barrow
  Description

  In level wet pasture. Bowl-barrow (TS057-011----) is located 180m to the NE. Circular area (diam. 18m) defined by a low earthen scarped edge (Wth 1.2m; H 0.2m) separated by a wide flat-bottomed fosse (Wth at base 2m; Overall Wth 3.2m; D 0.2m) from a flat-topped earthen berm (Wth at top 2m; overall Wth 5.3m) with an external wide flat-bottomed fosse (Wth at base 2.3m; overall Wth 3.7; D 0.15m). The fosses and the berm are best preserved ESE-SSE and are absent SW-WNW where a NW-SE orientated modern field drain abuts the external base of the scarp defining the interior at WSW. • TS057-011 Barrow - stepped barrow
  Description

  In level wet pasture. Ring-barrow (TS057-036----) is located c. 40m to the NE and a barrow (TS057-010----) is located c. 180m to the SW. Low circular flat-topped mound (diam top. 7-8m; H 0.5m) enclosed by a wide flat-bottomed fosse (Wth at base 1.75m; overall Wth 4.5m; D 0.4m) with an intermediate flat-topped earthen berm (Wth at top 4m) and an external wide flat-bottomed fosse (Wth at base 1.75m; overall Wth 2.95; D 0.4m). The fosses and the intermediate bank are absent from SE-SW where a modern drain truncates the S side of the central mound and the external fosse has been infilled from SW to W. A modern entrance (Wth 4m), where the fosses have been partially infilled, allows access to the interior at E. Interior is dry and clear of overgrowth. • TS057-012 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On top of a very slight dry rise in otherwise level wet pasture. Roughly circular very slightly raised area (dims. 21m E-W; 19m N-S) enclosed by a low flat-topped earthen bank (int. H 0.15m; ext. H 0.3m; Wth at top 1.65m; overall Wth. 3.9m) with a narrow external fosse (Wth at base 1m; overall Wth 1.4m; D 0.2m). The bank and fosse have been straightened off SE-SSW to make them parallel to a now relic E-W orientated field drain that lies 1.5m to the S of the ringfort. • TS057-036 Barrow - ring-barrow
  Description

  In level wet pasture. Bowl-barrow (TS057-011----) located c. 40m to the SW. Circular area (diam. 4.1m) enclosed by an earthen scarp (Wth 0.4-0.65m; H 0.1m) with a shallow fosse (Wth at base 0.4-0.7m) and an external low broad earthen bank (int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.05-0.1m; Wth at top 1-1.3m; overall Wth 1.8-2.4m). From SE-SW the external bank is almost entirely absent where a silted up E-W orientated modern drain abuts the S side of the ring-barrow.   In low-lying level wet pasture. Another ring-barrow (TS065-057002-) is located 4m to the SE. Originally circular, now a roughly D-shaped area (dims. 3.7m N-S; 4m E-W;) enclosed by a low earthen scarp (Wth 0.6m; H 0.05-0.10m) with a shallow external fosse (Wth at base 0.4m; overall Wth 0.8-1m; D 0.05-0.1m). The scarped edge and fosse are absent NW-NE where a ENE-WSW orientated silted-up field drain truncates the N edge of the barrow. The interior is level and clear of overgrowth. • TS065-070 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In a locally prominent position atop the S end of a broad N-S orientated gently sloping rise, in pasture. Natural ground level slopes down gently from the ringfort NE-W. Identified on Bruff aerial photograph (Bruff No. 2044) by Caimin O'Brien. Originally circular, but now consisting of a roughly D-shaped raised area (dims. 18m N-S; 16m E-W) enclosed by a gently sloping earthen scarp (Wth 3.6m; H 1-1.25m). From SSW-NW the scarp is absent and the edge of the monument is defined by a NNW-ESE orientated field boundary. The original entrance is not recognisable. • TS065-072 Barrow - ring-barrow
  Description

  On a natural rise in an area of flat wet terrain under pasture. There is a linear barrow cemetery (TS065-073001-; TS065-073002-; TS065-073003-; TS065-073004-; TS065-073005-; TS065-073006-; TS065-073007-) c. 130-230m to the S-SW which runs NE-SW. This monument (overall diam. 13.6m N-S; 13m E-W) was identified as a circular feature on Google Earth aerial imagery (Imagery Date: 2/20/2009). It consists of a central mound (diam. 5.1m N-S; 5.4m E-W) enclosed by a fosse (Wth 1.3m; D 0.12-0.2m) and an outer bank (Wth at base 3m; Wth at crest 1.2m; H above int. 0.22m; H above ext. 0.12m). The outer bank is clearly visible in the NW and from NE-SW. There are flag irises growing in the fosse in the SW and W sectors and on the bank in the W quadrant.   Description

  In flat terrain in reclaimed field under pasture. Within a linear barrow cemetery (L c. 130m) which runs NE-SW. Monument identified on Google Earth aerial imagery (Imagery Date: 2/20/2009). This ring-barrow (overall diam. 13.5m N-S; 11m E-W) is conjoined with another ring-barrow (TS065-073002-) to the E, both sharing their outer bank at the junction. Other ring-barrows in the cemetery include TS065-073003-; TS065-073004- and TS065-073005- which lie 28m, 58m and 121m to the NE respectively and TS065-073006- and TS065-073007- which lie 58m and 121m to the ENE respectively. It consists of a circular area (dims 7.4m N-S; 7.1m E-W) defined by a fosse (Wth 1.2-1.5m; D 0.15-0.2m) with evidence of an outer bank at the NW-N (int. H 0.1m; ext.   In flat terrain in reclaimed field under pasture. Within a linear barrow cemetery which runs NE-SW (L c. 130m). Monument identified on Google Earth aerial imagery (Imagery Date: 2/20/2009). This ring-barrow (overall diam. 10.9m N-S; 11.2m E-W) is conjoined with another ring-barrow (TS065-073001-) to the W, both sharing their outer bank at the junction. Other ring-barrows in the cemetery include TS065-073003-; TS065-073004- and TS065-073005- which lie 15m, 50m and 111m to the NE respectively and TS065-073006- and TS065-073007- which lie 94m and 112m to the ENE respectively. It consists of a circular area (dims 4.8m N-S; 5.3m E-W) defined by a fosse (Wth 1.2-1.3m; D 0.12-0.16m) with evidence of a much denuded outer bank in the SE-S sector and SW-W-NW (int. This ring-barrow (overall diam. 10.8m N-S; 11.2m E-W) consists of a low circular area (diam. 5.2m N-S; 5.4m E-W) defined by a fosse (Wth 1.4m; D 0.06m) with slight traces of an outer bank in the SE quadrant (Wth 2.05m at base; 0.9m at creast; H above int. 0.11m; H above ext. 0.06m).   Description

  In flat terrain, in a reclaimed field under pasture. Within a linear barrow cemetery which runs NE-SW (L c. 130m). Monument identified on Google Earth aerial imagery (Imagery Date: 2/20/2009). This ring-barrow (overall diam. 12.1m N-S; 13.5m E-W) consists of a low circular area (diam. 5.2m N-S; 5m E-W) defined by a fosse (Wth 1.1-1.4m; D 0.08-0.1m) with slight traces of a flattened outer bank from E-NW (Wth 3.6m at base; 1.3-1.8m at creast; H above int. 0.16-0.21m; H above ext. 0.8-0.17m). There is a slight depression in the interior mound, slightly NE of centre. There are rushes growing in the fosse from NE-S and some in the interior in the NW quadrant. Other ring-barrows in the cemetery include TS065-073001-; TS065-073002-; TS065-073003- and TS065-073004- which lie 121m, 111m, 92m and 60m to the SW respectively, TS065-073006- and TS065-073007- lie 43m and 24m to the S and SE respectively.   Description

  On a raised hummock within generally flat wet terrain, in a reclaimed field under pasture. Within a linear barrow cemetery (L c. 130m) which runs NE-SW. Monument identified during fieldwork. This ring-barrow consists of a well-defined dome-shaped mound enclosed by a fosse (Wth 1.7-2.15m; D 0.1-0.15m) and outer bank (Wth at base 2.1-2.7m; Wth at crest 1.2-1.4m; H above int. 0.15-0.17m; H above ext. 0.04-0.09m). The outer bank has been truncated in the S quadrant by a field boundary which runs E-W. Other ring-barrows in the cemetery include TS065-073001-; TS065-073002- and TS065-073003- - which lie 58m, 94m and 74m to the SW respectively, TS065-073004 which lies 45m to the W, TS065-073005- which lies 43m to the N and TS065-073007- which lies 29m to the NE.   Description

  Immediately W of a field boundary which runs NE-SW, in generally flat wet terrain, in a reclaimed field under pasture. Within a linear barrow cemetery (L c. 130m) which runs NE-SW. This monument was identified as a circular feature on Google Earth aerial imagery (Imagery Date: 2/20/2009). There is no visible trace of this monument above ground. There are a number of field drains in this specific area which may be creating the false impression of monument on the aerial. However, it has been classified as a ring-barrow possible based on its appearance on the Google aerial and its close proximity to a ring-barrow cemetery. Ring-barrows in the cemetery include TS065-073001-; TS065-073002-; TS065-073003-; TS065-073004- which lie 124m, 111m, 95m and 66m to the SW respectively, TS065-073005- which lies 27m to the NW and TS065-073006- which lies 29m to the SSW.   Description

  In pasture. A circular enclosure (diam. c. 12m) defined by a fosse, visible on satellite imagery (© Google Earth, imagery date 18 November 2020), identified and reported by Jean-Charles Caillère. The size of the enclosure and the high concentration of barrows in the surrounding area would suggest that this is a barrow. It overlays, or is conjoined with, another ditch barrow (TS065-080----) which is visible (dims. c. 5m) projecting eastward from the E side of the enclosure.
