  Description

  Situated on a SW-facing slope in rolling terrain, under tillage. Site identified on an aerial photograph (CUCAP, AVN 57) as a roughly square-shaped cropmark with rounded corners. • TN027-039001 Enclosure
  Description

  Situated on the SE-facing slope of a hill in pasture/meadow. Indicated as a large, roughly circular enclosure on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map. On the latest ed. the SE quadrant appears to have been somewhat truncated to form a straight edge. Evidence of a slight curving bank is still visible in the NE and SE quadrants enclosing a large circular area (approx. diam. 70-100m) which slopes gently to the SE. A second, smaller possible enclosure (TN027-039002) is indicated on an aerial photograph taken in 1968 (CUCAP, AVN 56), c. 40 to the SE, however, this site is not visible at ground level.   Description

  Situated on the SE-facing slope of a hill in pasture/meadow. Indicated as a large, roughly circular enclosure on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map. On the latest ed. the SE quadrant appears to have been somewhat truncated to form a straight edge. Evidence of a slight curving bank is still visible in the NE and SE quadrants enclosing a large circular area (TN027-039001) which slopes gently to the SE. A second, smaller possible enclosure (approx. diam. 37m) is indicated on an aerial photograph taken in 1968 (CUCAP, AVN 56), c. 40m to the SE, however, this site is not visible at ground level. • TN027-045 Moated site
  Description

  Situated on the WNW-facing slope of a hill in rolling pasture. Depicted on the 1st ed. (1843) OS 6-inch map as a rectangular outline with S edge abutting or truncated by NE-SW field boundary and trees growing on NE side. Site similarly depicted on the 1904 ed. though with hachures indicating a pit. An irregular rectangular enclosure (dims. 38.5m NW-SE; c.30m long on W side) enclosed by a clay bank (Wth 3m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.3m), reduced to a scarp at W. The site is quite disturbed and is used as a small field. There are several gaps in the bank - at the S end of the E side (caused by cattle trampling), at the E end of the S side allowing access to the adjacent field, and in the centre of the W side caused by cattle gaining access to two long feeders in the interior. • TN027-135 Castle - unclassified
  Description

  Situated on a natural hillock in an upland area with a nearby stream to the SSW. According to the Civil Survey (1654-6) a 'ruined Castle, a decaying mill, one Orchard and three Cabbins' belonging to Theobald Butler was located in this townland (Simington 1934, vol. 2, 236). A castle with adjacent dwelling is depicted on the Down Survey map in the vicinity of Millbrook House. Millbrook House, though ruined, is an eighteenth/nineteenth-century house with traces of late sixteenth or seventeenth-century stonework in the ruined outbuildings and gate pier. Possible seventeenth-century roof timbers are reused on the roofing of the outhouses. The main house is rendered and the interiors were not accessible.
