• WM024-094 Enclosure - large enclosure
  Description

  Situated on a prominent rise, in pasture, with good views in all directions. Monument described in 1971 and 1976 as a D-shaped area (dims. 70m NW-SE; 70m NE-SW) with straight side (L 73m) at NW enclosed by a low earth and stone bank, a wide and deep intervening fosse and an outer bank that is best preserved from SE-S with external stone facing visible. It is incorporated into a field boundary from S-W-N-SE. The original entrance is not visible. The interior rises gently from the perimeter towards the centre and is uneven with some rock outcrop visible. A rectangular house site (WM024-094001-) is visible in the NE quadrant. The remains of a circular-shaped enclosure (approx. diam. 22m) defined by a low earth and stone bank is visible in the centre of the monument. This enclosure may represent the remains of a ringfort that was later enclosed by a larger D-shaped earthwork. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. • WM024-094001 House - indeterminate date
  Description

  Situated on a prominent rise, in pasture, with good views in all directions. In NE quadrant of ringfort (WM024-094----) are the remains of a small rectangular-shaped house site (dims. 5m NNW-SSE; 3.6m ENE-WSW) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 1.3m; H 0.7m) is WITH entrance (Wth 1.3m) at SSE. • WM024-095 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on a small hillock, in undulating pasture, with good views in all directions except N-NE where overlooked by higher ground. Ringfort (WM024-097----) lies c. 127m to SE. Monument described as a roughly circular-shaped area (diam. 37m) enclosed by a low earth and stone bank that has been modified and incorporated into a field boundary. The original entrance is not clearly visible. The interior rises towards the centre and has numerous rock outcrops. There are possible traces of a fosse and outer bank at S but this appears to be a modern trackway to farm buildings located to E. Compiled by Alison McQueen, Vera Rahilly and Caimin O’Brien. • WM024-096 Ringfort - unclassified
  Description

  Situated on a gentle SSW-facing slope, in pasture, with good views to SE. Annotated ‘Fort’ on the 1837 OS Fair Plan map and depicted as a circular-shaped enclosure outlined by two concentric lines. Depicted on the revised 1876 ed. OS 6-inch map as a circular-shaped earthwork enclosed by a bank with a field fence intersecting the bank at SSE. No surface remains visible. • WM024-097 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on SW facing slope of rinsing ground, in pasture, with good views to SE, S and W but restricted to N. Ringforts (WM024-095---- / WM024-132----) lie c. 127m to NW and c. 132m to SE, respectively. Monument described as a roughly oval-shaped area (dims. 38.5m E-W; 31.4m N-S) enclosed by an earth and stone bank, an intervening fosse and an outer bank with entrance gap (Wth at top 4.2m; basal Wth 2m) at SE. The bank has been incorporated into a field boundary from NW-N-NE. There is a shallow fosse visible from E-SE and S-SW and a low outer bank visible from S-SW. In E quadrant of ringfort (WM024-097----) are the remains of a subrectangular-shaped house site consisting of a sunken are (dims. 4m NNE-SSW; 3.7m WNW-ESE) defined by a low earth and stone bank (Wth 1m; H 0.4m) with entrance gap at S.   Situated on the SW facing slope of rising ground, in pasture, with good views to SE, S and W but restricted to N. In SW quadrant of ringfort (WM024-097----) are the remains of a subrectangular-shaped house site (dims. 4.3m NNE-SSW; 2.8m WNW-ESE) defined by a low earth and stone bank (Wth 1.2m; H 1m) with entrance gap (Wth at top 1m; basal Wth 0.8m) at ESE.
