• WM026-071 Fulacht fia
  Description

  Situated at the base of a W-facing slope of a low ridge, in wet pasture. Ringfort (WM026-070----) lies c. 90m to NW. Monument described in 1982 as a small mound of earth and burnt stones. The mound (diam. 5m; H 0.5-0.6m) is roughly U-shaped, with a depression to the W, which probably represents the trough. There is a lot of disturbance in the sides of the mound which have exposed large quantities of burnt stone, yet no bone or any other identifiable remains. • WM026-072 Field system
  Description

  Situated on a ridge running NE-SW, in undulating pasture, with fairly good views in all directions. Not depicted on the 1837 OS 6-inch map or on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map. Monument described in 1978 as a large complex of low earthen banks and scarps extending along a natural ridge. The banks seem to form a series of rectilinear enclosures and there are three associated house sites (WM026-072001-) forming part of the system. The complex is crossed by later E-W field banks and drains running E-W and is delimited on the N by one such field bank.   Description

  Description

  Situated in pasture. Depicted on the 1837 ed. OS 6-inch map as a large oval-shaped earthwork (approx. dims. 50m NE-SW; 39m NW-SE) with a house site in the SW quadrant. Depicted on the revised 1913 ed. OS 25-inch map as a penannular-shaped area which is open to SE. Possible house site visible in the SW quadrant. Monument is visible as a clear pennanular-shaped cropmark on OSi aerial photography. Only the faintest cropmark of this levelled monument is visible today on Digital Globe aerial photography. • House, 1790–1810 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached five-bay two-storey house, built c.1800, having a single-bay flat-roofed entrance/windbreak porch to the centre of the main façade east and a five-bay single-storey outbuilding attached to the north end. Now out of use and derelict. Pitched corrugated metal roof with cast-iron rainwater goods and three red brick chimneystacks, one to the centre and one to each gable end. Lime roughcast rendered walls having square-headed window openings, irregularly placed, with cut stone sills and the remains of multi-pane timber sliding sash window. Ruled-and-line rendered finish to porch. Square-headed opening to porch having timber panelled door. Single-storey outbuilding to the north end with a pitched corrugated metal roof, rubble stone walls and square-headed openings. Set back from road in own grounds (located in a bend in the road) with rubble limestone wall to road frontage with cement coping over. Main entrance gates to the east comprising a pair of cut limestone gate posts supporting wrought-iron gates.
