  Description

  The site (Wth 2.5m; D 0.5m) is orientated NNE-SSW and consists of two dispersed layers of material. The upper layer (Wth 2.5m; D 0.18m) is composed of two roundwoods, one piece of brushwood and occasional twigs. The roundwoods and brushwood are longitudinally laid and widely spaced. Woodworking is evidenced by one piece of brushwood with a chisel point. The lower layer (D 0.32m) is composed of brushwood and twigs. Woodworking is evidenced by a number of pieces with chisel points. Wood species include birch, hazel and willow. The site is situated in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with fibrous roots and ericaceous roots. This site is 1.7m SW of SMR WM039-153----. Date of upload: 12 August 2013

• WM039-153 Road - class 3 togher
  Description

  The site (Wth 1.5m; D 0.5m) consists of two dispersed layers of material with no clear orientation. The upper layer (Wth 0.83m; D 0.11m) is composed of one roundwood and eight pieces of brushwood, laid two pieces deep. While the majority of the elements are irregularly laid and widely spaced, four pieces of brushwood to the NE are closely spaced and have a shared orientation. The lower layer (Wth 0.45m; D 0.2m min.) is composed of four pieces of irregularly laid brushwood and occasional twigs. The lower layer is not positioned directly below the upper layer but beneath the SW end of it. A bronze stick pin (92E148:73) was recovered from the bottom of this layer but may not have been in situ. Woodworking is evidenced by a number of brushwood pieces with chisel points and two roundwoods with wedge points. Wood species include birch, holly and hazel. The site has been radiocarbon-dated to cal. AD 543-681 (UCD-0141). It is situated in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum and is located 1.7m to the NE of SMR WM039-152----.   Description

  Ten pieces of brushwood on the field surface (L 1.24m min.; Wth 0.9m min.; D 0.08m). The brushwood is dispersed with no apparent structure but most of the pieces are orientated approximately in an E-W direction.   Description

  Three closely set pieces of brushwood (diam. 0.015-0.04m), up to two rods deep, located in the drain face (Wth 0.115m; D 0.09m). The wood is in good condition. The wood sits in poorly humified peat composed of Sphagnum, Eriophorum and some ericaceous remains and is overlain by poorly humified Sphagnum peat with some ericaceous remains.   Description

  A deposit of roundwoods and brushwood (L 2.4m min.; Wth 2.4m; D 0.4m). In the drain face, the elements have a general NNE-SSW orientation and are set two rods deep, 0.2-0.6m apart. On the field surface, at the extremities of the site, the elements are irregularly laid. The site sits in poorly humified Sphagnum peat with fibrous roots.   Description

  Five pieces of brushwood and a stake (L 3m min.; Wth 0.6m min.). Two pieces of brushwood are orientated approximately N-S but are fragmented and disturbed. The stake, on the E side of these, is set at an 80° angle. Branch-trimming and chisel points are present on some of the elements. The site sits in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with some ericaceous remains. The site is one of a small number of comparable sites in this area including SMR WM039-161---- and SMR WM039-162----, between which is a scatter of disturbed brushwood.   An irregular deposit (L 1.2m; Wth 0.96m; D 0.07m) of brushwood (diam. 0.015-0.049m). The wood is in poor condition as a result of milling and sits in moderately humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat with abundant fibrous roots. The site is one of a small number of comparable sites in this area including SMR WM039-160---- and SMR WM039-162----, between which is a scatter of disturbed brushwood.   An arrangement of sparsely distributed brushwood and roundwoods on the field surface (L 1.3m; Wth 0.66m; D 0.06m). A number of the pieces run in a NE-SW direction but there is no indication of a clear structure. The end of one roundwood has been worked to a chisel point with a metal tool. The site is one of a small number of comparable sites in this area including SMR WM039-160---- and SMR WM039-161----, between which is a scatter of disturbed brushwood.   Description

  A small area of light brushwood on the field surface (L 0.73m min.; Wth 0.2m min.; D 0.15m). Two pieces are orientated N-S and a third piece is located c. 0.25m from their N ends at a right angle to them. There is no indication of a clear structure but the site may be the remains of a more substantial feature. A single toolmark is recorded but is in a very degraded condition.   Three pieces of sparsely arranged, mixed brushwood on the field surface (Wth 1.08m; D 0.06m), one of which is ex situ. The pieces lie in an approximately N-S direction but there is no indication of a clear structure. One piece has been cut to a wedge point and shows evidence for branch-trimming.   Description

  The site (L 1.1m min.; Wth 1.4m; D 0.05m) consists of pieces of light brushwood set at right angles to and partially interwoven around two pieces of heavy brushwood. The latter are set 0.27m apart, parallel to one another and orientated NE-SW. The structure is well formed but the wood is in very poor condition and very fragmentary. No woodworking was noted, possibly due to the poor condition of the wood. This structure is located in poorly humified Sphagnum with some ericaceous remains. Date of upload: 12 August 2013

  Description

  The site (Wth 2.5m; D 0.42m) consists of a dispersed deposit of brushwood and twigs. The brushwood is deposited in two concentrations set 1.27m apart between which beds of twigs and dispersed brushwood are found. The NE deposit (Wth 0.75m; D 0.07m) consists of parallel pieces of brushwood up to two elements deep. The SW concentration (Wth 0.58m; D, 0.11m) is less regular and cohesive, with some heavier elements at its SW limit. Woodworking is evident throughout the deposit. Wood species include alder, willow, birch, oak and Pomoideae. The site sits in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with some ericaceous remains and Eriophorum. Date of upload: 12 August 2013

  Description

  A small deposit of nine regular pieces of light brushwood with some occasional twigs (L 0.8m min.; Wth 0.7m min.; D 0.25m). This material lies generally in a N-S direction. The larger elements lie 0.03-0.15m apart, with twigs extending the limits of the site on the W side. The wood is in moderate condition but has been fragmented by milling.   A regular deposit (L 0.79m; Wth 0.76m; D 0.13m) of seven pieces of light brushwood orientated approximately NW-SE. They are somewhat fragmented and desiccated and are set within poorly humified Sphagnum peat with small amounts of Eriophorum and fibrous roots. The site is located 5m to the NE of SMR WM039-174----.   Description

  A dispersed deposit (Wth 3.1m; D 0.57m) of twelve pieces of brushwood and four roundwoods. The roundwoods (diam. 0.07-0.09m) are concentrated at the top of the deposit and orientated N-S. The heavier pieces of brushwood are similarly distributed toward the top of the deposit. The lighter brushwood and twigs are below these in groups of 3-4 elements. The wood is in moderate condition and a single toolmark is present. The site is located in moderately humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat. Date of upload: 12 August 2013

  Description

  An irregular scatter (L 1.6m; Wth 1.1m; D 0.26m) of eighteen pieces of brushwood (diam. 0.02-0.05m) and some woodchips. The wood is fragmented and many of the elements have been displaced to a semi-upright position by machinery.   Description

  A dispersed deposit (Wth 2.2m; D 0.42m) of irregularly laid brushwood (diam. 0.018-0.038m) and two stakes. The stakes are set 0.92m apart toward the SW end of the deposit but do not seem to form part of the structure of the site. The wood is in poor condition. The site is located in moderately humified Sphagnum peat containing ericaceous remains but it is not clear if all of the material lies within the same peat layers and is therefore contemporary. • WM039-180 Road - class 2 togher
  Description

  The site (L 39.983m; Wth 2.8m; D 0.65m) is orientated NW-SE and consists of a dense deposit of brushwood, roundwoods and twigs. The roundwoods (diam. 0.06-0.11m) are concentrated towards the upper part of the site and are orientated in an approximately E-W or NE-SW direction. The underlying layer is composed of irregularly laid, mixed brushwood and twigs, up to seven pieces deep. At one sighting, a squared plank with a scorched underside is recorded. A small number of upright elements are also noted through the site. The wood is in poor condition largely as a result of milling activity. Numerous elements show evidence for woodworking. Wood species hazel, birch, willow and Pomoideae. Radiocarbon dated to cal. AD 981-1186 (UCD-0144). The site is generally located in poorly to moderately humified Sphagnum peat containing Eriophorum and ericaceous remains. SMR WM039-349----, SMR WM039-350---- and SMR WM039-351---- form a cluster adjacent to the N end of this site. The central sighting of this site is 0.18m above SMR WM039-322---- and adjacent to SMR WM039-324---- to the S. SMR WM039-255---- is located 4.2m to the NE of the S end of this site.   Description

  Seven pieces of brushwood (diam. 0.04-0.045m) and some twigs (Wth 1.11m; D 0.24m). The orientation and level of the wood is not uniform and there is no structural cohesion. The site is set in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with some Eriophorum and fibrous roots. Date of upload: 13 August 2013

  Description

  A spread (Wth 1.27m; D 0.5m) of thirteen pieces of brushwood (diam. 0.012-0.044m). There is no clear structure to the material but some displacement has occurred. Two stakes are present in the centre of the deposit. The wood is in a moderate condition. Chisel points are present on some of the elements. The site is located in poorly humified Sphagnum peat.   Description

  An irregular deposit (L 0.9m min.; Wth 0.86m min.; D 0.12m) of roundwoods and brushwood on the field surface. Light brushwood is overlain with heavier, closely set brushwood and roundwoods (diam. 0.064-0.095m). SMR WM039-336---- and SMR WM039-335---- are located within 2.8m of this site to the NE. • WM039-184 Structure - peatland
  Description

  A dense deposit (L 1.52m min.; Wth 0.53m min.; D 0.09m min.) of irregularly laid brushwood. On the W side of the deposit the elements are orientated NE-SW while on the E side, they are orientated N-S and overlie perpendicular pieces. The lighter elements are densest on the W side of the site and tend to be overlain with heavier brushwood. The condition of the wood is good although most of the ends are broken. Woodworking is evident on one piece of brushwood. Wood species include willow, hazel and ash. This site is present in well-humified Sphagnum peat with some fibrous roots. • WM039-185 Road - class 2 togher
  Description

  The site (L 40.677m; Wth 2.5m; D 0.24m) is orientated NW-SE and composed of brushwood, roundwoods and twigs. The brushwood (diam. 0.012-0.047m) up to eight pieces deep and is mostly irregularly laid. In some locations it is both longitudinally and transversely laid, 3-4 pieces deep. Roundwoods and twigs are dispersed among the brushwood. A number of light brushwood uprights are also noted scattered throughout the site. The wood is frequently forked and branch-like and shows evidence for tearing and splitting. Numerous pieces also attest woodworking with a metal tool and are predominantly cut to chisel points. Wood species include hazel, willow, ash, birch and alder. The site crosses a number of peat types, but lies mainly on a moderately to well-humified Sphagnum peat with pockets of fibrous roots and Eriophorum. It tends to be overlain by a poorly humified Sphagnum peat. SMR WM039-247---- is located 1.7m to the NE of the S end of this site. Date of upload: 13 August 2013

  Description

  The site (Wth 2.88m; D 0.5m) consists of a compact group of irregular brushwood, roundwoods and occasional twigs. The brushwood (diam. 0.015-0.045m) is up to three pieces deep. The heavier elements tend to be concentrated towards the centre of the site. Woodworking is attested by a single piece cut to a chisel point. The site sits in poorly humified Sphagnum peat containing ericaceous remains and Eriophorum. SMR WM039-332---- is adjacent to this site to the SE and SMR WM039-333---- and SMR WM039-202---- are within 1.7m of the same side. Date of upload: 13 August 2013

  Description

  The site (Wth 0.94m; D 0.33m) consists of a band of densely packed brushwood. All pieces are regularly aligned in an E-W direction but the orientation of the site is not clear. The brushwood (diam. 0.016-0.046m) is up to five pieces deep. Wood species include hazel and Pomoideae. Radiocarbon dated to 802-411 cal. BC (UCD-0145). The wood is in good condition and sits in moderately humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat containing ericaceous roots and a Rosaceae seed. The site is adjacent to SMR WM039-199---- to the NE and SMR WM039-215---- to the SW and is one of ten closely situated sites along a 12m length of this drain face. Date of upload: 13 August 2013

  Description

  A roundwood, a piece of brushwood and a peg (Wth 0.27m; D 0.24m min.). The elements (diam. 0.045-0.075m) are closely set and in a good condition. The site is set in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum and some ericaceous roots. This site is 0.15m below SMR WM039-192---- and is one of nine closely situated sites along a 5m length of this drain including SMR WM039-217---- 0.4m to the NE and SMR WM039-216---- 1.1m to the SW.   Description

  The site (Wth 0.56m; D 0.095m) is orientated NNE-SSW and composed of six longitudinally laid, closely spaced brushwood (diam. 0.025-0.05m). The drain intersects the site at a very oblique angle which may have reduced both the recorded composition and width of the structure. The wood is in good condition and is set in poorly humified Sphagnum peat. This site is 0.15m above SMR WM039-191---- and SMR WM039-217---- and is one of nine closely situated sites along a 5m length of this drain including SMR WM039-193---- 0.7m to the NE and SMR WM039-216---- 1.25m to the SW.   Description

  Description

  A piece of light brushwood and two stakes in the drain face (Wth 0.18m; D 0.03m). The stakes extend up to 0.5m above the level of the horizontal piece at angles of 60-70°. Evidence for branch-trimming was noted. The wood is in moderate condition and sits in moderately humified Sphagnum peat. This site is 0.3m above SMR WM039-222---- and is one of nine closely situated sites along a 5m length of this drain including SMR WM039-197---- adjacent to the SW and SMR WM039-198---- 3.7m to the NE. • WM039-197 Road - class 3 togher
  Description

  The site (Wth 1.06m; D 0.27m) consists of a band of mixed brushwood up to six pieces deep. The pieces lie mostly in a N-S direction with two pieces at a right angle to these, however, the orientation of the site in uncertain. The site is deepest towards the SW end and slopes slightly to a thinner deposit to the NE. A substantial amount of peat occurs between the elements suggesting there may be two sites present. It is possible that the lowermost part of this site is linked to SMR WM039-222---- located 0.15m to the NE and SMR WM039-198---- further to the NE. The site is in moderate condition and sits in moderately humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat. This is one of ten closely situated sites along a 12m length of this drain face including SMR WM039-196---- and SMR WM039-222---- adjacent to the NE and SMR WM039-225---- 0.7m to the SW.   Description

  The site (Wth 1.93m; D 0.28m min.) consists of a band of mixed brushwood. The pieces lie mostly in a N-S direction but the orientation of the site is unclear. A single upright is noted. The wood is more concentrated towards the SW side of the site. There is no evidence for woodworking. The wood is in good condition and sits in moderately humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat.   A small, dense collection of light brushwood (Wth 0.34m; D 0.13m) mostly orientated E-W. An outlying piece is recorded 0.12m to the NE of the main concentration.   A small deposit (Wth 0.6m; D 0.12m) of brushwood (diam. 0.01-0.045m) laid one rod deep. The pieces are set 0.05-0.1m apart and do not form a coherent structure. Some of the wood shows evidence for breaking and tearing. It is in moderate condition and sits in poorly humified Sphagnum peat containing ericaceous remains and fibrous roots.   Description

  The site (L 0.73m min.; Wth 0.48m; D 0.09m) consists of a compact deposit of roundwoods (diam. 0.07-0.095m) and a piece of light brushwood. The pieces are parallel and orientated NW-SE, however, the overall site orientation remains uncertain. There is no evidence for woodworking. The wood is in poor condition, largely due to machine disturbance. The site is located in poorly humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat containing fibrous roots. Date of upload: 13 August 2013

The wood is in moderate condition. Evidence for woodworking is noted on three pieces which are cut to chisel points.   Two roundwoods and a piece of heavy brushwood set approximately parallel to one another on the field surface with three other irregularly placed pieces of brushwood (L 0.8m min.; Wth 0.8m; D 0.1m). The parallel elements are set 0.1-0.15m apart and orientated N-S, with two further pieces immediately to the E. The wood is in mixed condition with toolmarks and branch-trimming evident.   Description

  A regular deposit of brushwood (L 1.7m min.; Wth 0.84m; D 0.12m). The pieces (diam. 0.03-0.06m) are loosely arranged and are generally parallel to one another.   Description

  The site (Wth 1.24m; D 0.49m) is composed of three layers, the upper one of which may represent a separate phase. The lowest layer (Wth 0.88m; D 0.15m) consists of brushwood (diam. 0.036-0.056m), a split timber, twigs and two pegs. The brushwood forms two bundles, 0.46m apart at each side of the site and includes a quarter-split timber. The middle layer (Wth 1.13m; D 0.2m) consists of irregularly laid brushwood (diam. 0.025-0.05m), a high amount of twigs and four pegs. The twigs occur both in beds and scattered throughout the brushwood. The upper layer (Wth 0.68m; D 0.14m) consists of closely set, parallel heavy brushwood, some twigs and a peg. Wood species include alder, willow, hazel, birch, Pomoideae and holly. The wood is in good condition with evidence for woodworking. Radiocarbon dated to cal. AD 775-1000 (UCD-0147). The two lower layers of the site occur in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum, ericaceous roots and a large amount of fibrous roots.   The site (Wth 0.62m; D 0.17m) consists of a loose cluster of five pieces of brushwood (diam. 0.032-0.054m) and a roundwood (diam. 0.088m). The wood is in moderate condition and is set in moderately humified Sphagnum peat with some Eriophorum and ericaceous roots.   A small arrangement of mixed brushwood in the drain face (Wth 0.75m; D 0.3m). The wood occurs in a small cluster towards the SW side with two pieces lying further apart to the NE. The site is one of a ten closely situated sites along a 12m length in this drain face, including SMR WM039-224---- 0.3m to the SW and SMR WM039-197----, 0.7m to the NE. A number of pieces have metal-cut chisel points and there is evidence for branch-trimming. Wood species include birch and hazel. The site is located in poorly humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat. Dendrochronologically dated to 96±9 BC or later (Q10042). The site is situated in poorly to moderately humified Sphagnum peat with Eriophorum and ericaceous roots and wood fragments.   The site (L 1.3m min.; Wth 2.16m min.; D 0.12m) consists of densely packed brushwood, twigs and roundwoods (diam. 0.065-0.07m). The larger components are approximately parallel and orientated N-S. Twigs are scattered between these larger elements. Machine damage is evident, particularly on the NW limit of the exposure. One of the roundwoods was worked to a pencil point and the wood is in good condition. Wood species include birch and alder. A number of pieces bear metal-cut chisel points. The site sits in moderately humified Sphagnum peat containing Eriophorum. A leather shoe (92E148:80) was recovered 0.3m from the SW end of the site.   Description

  A large deposit (L 2.3m min.; Wth 2.8m; D 0.9m) of mixed brushwood, a roundwood, a radially split timber, twigs and four possible pegs. The material is irregularly laid, unevenly spaced and has no discernible orientation. The twigs occur individually and in beds. The upright elements are set at angles between 60-80° and two have been converted, one to a radial-split, the other to a squared quarter-split. Various other elements have been cut to chisel points.   The site (L 2.6m; Wth 1.29m min.; D 0.32m) consists of heavy brushwood, roundwoods, planks and occasional twigs and appears to be orientated NE-SW. The elements are transversely laid 3-4 pieces deep and 1-2 pieces wide. While the wood mostly forms a level platform, a small number of pieces lie above the general level of the site, resulting in an uneven surface. At the E edge of the site the wood is less compactly arranged. Evidence for woodworking with a metal tool is attested by the presence of a small number of chisel points and two tangentially split planks. Wood species include willow, birch, hazel, alder and ash. Radiocarbon dated to cal. AD 901-1159 (UCD-0148). The wood is in good condition and sits in moderately humified Sphagnum peat containing Eriophorum and fibrous roots. This site is 1.7m to the NE of the S end of SMR WM039-185---- and 1.3m SW of SMR WM039-323---- to which it may be related. Date of upload: 14 August 2013

While some elements are irregularly laid, many of the pieces lie in a N-S direction with a smaller number more widely set at right angles to these. The overall site orientation is unclear. A small number of pieces show evidence for woodworking. The wood is in moderate condition and sits in poorly humified Sphagnum peat containing Eriophorum and some ericaceous remains. This is one of six closely situated sites along an 11m length of drain, including SMR WM039-259---- adjacent to the site to the NE and SMR WM039-260---- in the opposing drain face.   The site (Wth 4.3m; D 0.56m) is composed of a band of brushwood (diam. 0.015-0.045m), roundwoods (diam. 0.065-0.08m) and occasional twigs. The brushwood and roundwoods occurs in small, dispersed clusters with the majority of elements orientated NW-SE. The twigs occur around and between these clusters. The orientation of the site is not clear. Wood species include birch, willow, hazel, ash and Viburnum. It is located in poorly humified Sphagnum peat containing ericaceous remains and Eriophorum. The site is one of six closely situated sites along an 11m length of this drain, including SMR WM039-342---- 4.2m to the NE and SMR WM039-258---- in the opposing drain face.   Description

  The site (Wth 3.67m; D 0.4m) consists of an irregular but dense spread of light brushwood and twigs. The brushwood is branch-like in nature and there is evidence for branch-trimming. It is in moderate condition. The site lies in poorly humified Sphagnum peat containing ericaceous fragments, fibrous roots and occasional Eriophorum.   Description

  The site (L 8.7m; Wth 1.8m; D 0.15m) is orientated NNW-SSE and is composed of brushwood (diam. 0.01-0.055m) and heavy twigs. The elements are arranged longitudinally, with occasional transverse pieces occurring singly or in pairs at intervals of c. 0.6m. The transverse pieces run both above and below the longitudinal elements but there is no indication of a regular weave. The wood is densest towards the centre of the site over a width of c. 0.9m and is 4-5 elements deep. Numerous pieces are cut to chisel points and there is one example of a wedge point. Wood species include willow, alder, birch, Pomoideae and hazel. The wood is in good condition and sits in well-humified Sphagnum peat containing root fibres and occasional Eriophorum.   A small amount of dispersed light brushwood on the field surface and a single roundwood in the drain face (L 0.99m; Wth 0.77m; D 0.19m).   A spread (L 4.5m min.; Wth 1.5m; D 0.2m) of mixed brushwood, laid two pieces deep. The brushwood is widely spaced and irregularly laid. The long axis of the site has an approximate E-W orientation but on the whole, the site appears to curve in a NNE-SSW direction. Woodworking is evidenced by chisel points, a pencil point and by branch-trimming on one piece. The site is situated in poorly to moderately humified Sphagnum peat. Date of upload: 15 August 2013

  Description

  The site (L 7.51m; Wth 1.2m; D 0.3m) consists of a quite compact arrangement of light brushwood, occasional twigs and a single roundwood. The wood is most compact towards the SW end of the site where is it up to five pieces deep. The roundwood is situated to the NE of these with the twigs occurring in small, loose beds between it and the brushwood. While a number of pieces run in a N-S direction, the elements do not appear to have a regular placement. The roundwood is worked to a wedge point with a metal tool. The site sits in poorly humified Sphagnum and Eriophorum peat. SMR WM039-294---- and SMR WM039-295---- are adjacent to the N side of the site at the W end and midpoint respectively. The brushwood runs perpendicular to these and is also two pieces deep but more dispersed. Two pegs are located towards the N end of the site, each abutting a horizontal element. The site is very fragmentary and the overall orientation could not be determined. One piece of wood is cut to a chisel point. The wood is in very poor condition as a result of machine damage and desiccation. Next to this, a leather shoe fragment (92E148:87) was recovered within which some mineral material was noted. A number of pieces are worked to a chisel point.   Description

  The site (L 1.2m; Wth 1.04m; D 0.25m) is composed of a dense band of brushwood (diam. 0.028-0.055m) and roundwoods (diam. 0.07-0.096m) laid up to three pieces deep. The elements mostly lie in a N-S direction, with a small number lying perpendicular to these. A number of pieces bear metal-cut chisel points. Wood species include hazel, Pomoideae, alder and birch. The wood is in moderate condition and sits in well-humified Sphagnum peat containing frequent fibrous roots. It is located 1m NE of SMR WM039-287---- and SMR WM039-288----.   Description

  An irregular spread (Wth 1.43m; D 0.4m) of predominantly light brushwood and twigs. Overall the wood is loosely packed but is up to seven pieces deep and some small clusters occur. A single upright piece lies at an angle of 50°. Wood species include hazel and ash. The wood is in moderate condition and sits in moderately humified Sphagnum peat containing Eriophorum, Calluna wood and a fruit and a number of seeds of Prunus spinosa. The site is located 1.5m to the SW of SMR WM039-319---- and c. 2m to the NE of SMR WM039-318----. Date of upload: 16 August 2013

  Description

  A deposit (Wth 0.52m; D 0.06m) of seven pieces of brushwood, one piece deep, and an enigmatic wooden component of tightly packed layers of bark and wood. The deposit is compact and irregularly laid with a number of hazel brushwood pieces penetrating the centre of the bark component. The site is situated in poorly humified Sphagnum peat.
