  Situated at the E edge of a low plateau. The cropmark of a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) defined by a wide fosse feature (Wth c. 5m) is visible on aerial photographs (MM (53) 18-20) and digital aerial photographs (WX007-062_1A to _8A) from 2006. It is also visible on the OSI series of aerial photographs (2005). Ring-ditch (WX007-065----) is c. 35m to the ENE and rath (WX007-063----) is c. 120m to the S.   Description

  Situated at the E edge of a low plateau. The cropmark of a bivallate circular enclosure (int. diam. c. 30m; ext. diam. c. 45m) defined by two fosse features is visible on aerial photographs (MM) 18-20) and digital aerial photographs (WX007-063_1A to _6A) from 2006. There is an entrance gap through both fosses at N, closest to rath (WX007-062----) which is c. 120m distant. It is also visible on the OSI series of aerial photographs (2005).   Description

  Situated in what might be a slight fold on a shelf which is on a SE-facing slope. • WX007-091 Kiln - corn-drying
  Description

  Situated on a gentle SE-facing slope, with a small canalised NE-SW stream c. 110m to the SE. Archaeological testing (20E0638) over a large area (dims c. 150m NE-SW; c. 160m NW-SE) in November 2020 identified a cereal-drying kiln which was visible as a stone-lined area (dims 4.5-5m NE-SW; 1-2.2m NW-SE). It was narrower at the W end and there was burning around the stones. Within the fill was a fragment of a large millstone (full diam. 0.75m; T 0.13m) with a slightly convex top and a flat base. There was a slot-trench (L 2m; Wth 0.1m) in the vicinity, and at least two post-holes. (McLoughlin 2020) It was completely excavated in April 2021 under the same licence when it proved to be a keyhole kiln in an oval area (dims 5m E-W; 0.9- 1.9m N-S) that was shallowest (D 0.2m) at W and deepest (D 0.65m) at the E end. Stones from the flue were still present, and the bowl had nine fills of charcoal-rich soils mixed with redeposited subsoil. The broken millstone had been found in its topmost fill, but the other features in the vicinity were no longer evident. A second corn-drying kiln was c. 7m to the N. This was an oval feature (dims 5m NE-SW; 1-2.2m) that had been badly truncated and was very shallow (D 0.05m at NE to 0.2m at SW). It was filled with a redeposited subsoil over a thin lens of charcoal, and on artefacts were recovered from it.   Description

  Detached three-bay single-storey farmhouse with half-dormer attic, built 1805, on an L-shaped plan centred on single-bay single-storey gabled projecting glazed porch to ground floor; single-bay (north) or two-bay (south) full-height side elevations. "Improved", 1880, producing present composition. Occupied, 1901; 1911. Hipped slate roof on an L-shaped plan including gablets to window openings to half-dormer attic with clay ridge tiles, raised red brick Running bond chimney stacks having stringcourses below capping supporting terracotta pots, timber bargeboards to gables, and cast-iron rainwater goods on roughcast eaves retaining cast-iron downpipes. Roughcast walls. Square-headed central door opening into farmhouse with concealed dressings framing glazed timber panelled door. Square-headed window openings with cut-granite sills, and concealed dressings framing two-over-two timber sash windows. Interior including (ground floor): central hall retaining timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors; and timber surrounds to door openings to remainder framing timber panelled doors with timber panelled shutters to window openings. Set in landscaped grounds with rendered piers to perimeter having overgrown capping.

  Description

  Detached five-bay two-storey house, built 1868, on a square plan; two-bay (north) or four-bay (south) two-storey side elevations. Occupied, 1901. Vacant, 1911. Adapted to alternative use, 2006. For sale, 2008. Hipped slate roof on a U-shaped plan with pressed or rolled lead ridges, cement rendered chimney stacks having "Cyma Recta"- or "Cyma Reversa"-detailed capping supporting terracotta octagonal pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on paired timber consoles retaining cast-iron downpipes. Part creeper- or ivy-covered roughcast walls on cut-granite plinth. Segmental-headed window openings in segmental-headed recesses (ground floor) with cut-granite sills on panelled risers, and concealed red brick block-and-start surrounds framing one-over-one timber sash windows. Square-headed window openings (first floor) with cut-granite sills, and concealed red brick block-and-start surrounds framing two-over-two timber sash windows. Interior including (ground floor): vestibule (north) retaining encaustic tiled floor; segmental-headed door opening into hall with carved timber surround framing timber panelled double doors having overlight; hall retaining carved timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors, and moulded plasterwork cornice to ceiling; office (north-east) retaining carved timber surround to door opening framing timber panelled door with carved timber surround to opposing window opening framing timber panelled shutters, and picture railing below moulded plasterwork cornice to ceiling; dining room (north-west) retaining carved timber surround to door opening framing timber panelled door with carved timber surrounds to window openings framing timber panelled shutters, cut-veined black marble Classical-style chimneypiece, and picture railing below moulded plasterwork cornice to ceiling; bow-ended drawing room (south-west) retaining carved timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors with carved timber surrounds to window openings framing timber panelled shutters, cut-white marble Classical-style chimneypiece, and decorative plasterwork cornice to ceiling centred on decorative plasterwork ceiling rose; billiards room (south-east) retaining carved timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors with carved timber surrounds to window openings framing timber panelled shutters, cut-black marble Classical-style chimneypiece, and moulded plasterwork cornice to ceiling centred on decorative plasterwork ceiling rose; and (first floor): carved timber surrounds to door openings framing timber panelled doors with carved timber surrounds to window openings framing timber panelled shutters.
