  Description

  Excavated (E3486) during 2005 by E. Moore as part of Site 21 at Coolnaveagh, which was one of the excavations undertaken in advance of the construction of the N11 Arklow-Gorey link-road. Situated on a slight E-facing slope with the canalised N-S Banoge River c. 170m to the E. A penannular ditch (Wth 1.06-1.23m; max. D 0.3m) enclosed a circular area (int. diam. 4.7m; ext. diam. 6.3m) with an opening (Wth 2.4m) at N. Some cremated bone was found in the fill, most of it from a pit (dims 0.8m x 0.5m; D 0.32m) on the outer edge of the ditch at S. The cremation pit (WX012-033002-) is c. 60m to the ENE.   Description

  Excavated (E3486) during 2005 by E. Moore as part of Site 21 at Coolnaveagh, which was one of the excavations undertaken in advance of the construction of the N11 Arklow-Gorey link-road. Situated on a slight E-facing slope with the canalised N-S Banoge River c. 100m to the E. A single pit (dims 1.23m NW-SE; 1.06m NE-SW; D 0.25m) contained three fills, two of which had cremated bone. The ring-ditch (WX012-033001-) is c. 60m to the WSW, fulacht fia (WX012-034003-) is c. 100m t the ESE and fulacht fia (WX012-034008-) is c. 55m to the NE with the rath (WX012-003----) c. 75m to the NE.   Description

  Situated on a fairly level landscape. The cropmark of a circular area (diam. c. 40m N-S) defined by the parch mark of a wide feature (Wth c. 3-4m) is visible on Google Earth (28/06/2018; 14/07/2018) but the perimeter can only be traced S-W-N as it is confused with vehicle tacks N-E-S.   Description

  Single-span railway bridge over road, opened 1863, on a skewed plan. Part creeper- or ivy-covered coursed or snecked rock faced limestone walls with cut-granite chamfered stringcourses supporting parapets having cut-granite chamfered coping centred on reinforced riveted rolled steel girder. Sited spanning road.
