• WX006-046 Fulacht fia
  Description

  Marked as a fulacht fia only on the 1940 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and located in a slight dip on a gentle E-facing slope with a small N-S stream c. 100m to the E. It was described in 1940 as a mound of charred stones and balck earth (diam. c. 23m; max. H c. 1.5m) (OSFM). It was not visible in 1987 at ground level in reclaimed pasture. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996). • WX006-095 Moated site
  Description

  Located on a broad shelf at the bottom of the S-facing slope of Craan Hill. The cropmark of a rectangular enclosure (dims c. 32m WNW-ESE: c. 32m NNE-SSW) defined by narrow fosses on every side including the S where the feature is slightest is visible only on Google Earth (14/07/2018). It is within a large enclosure (dims c. 80m NW-SE; c. 70m NE-SW) defined by a slight fosse feature that is only visible SW-N-S, leaving a gap (Wth c. 34m) at SW.
