Situated on a gentle SE-facing slope close to several springs and c. 150m N of (WI041-007----). An area of burnt stone, charcoal and darkened soil noted during ploughing in the 1970s. Not visible at ground level. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). Description
This is the record for a burnt mound excavated by Niall Gregory (97E0252) on the Arklow bypass road scheme. The excavation revealed two pits and three troughs and four distinct spreads of burnt material. One of these troughs had two post-holes associated with it. The finds consisted of twelve worked flints but these were not from a secure context.
