  Description

  A standing stone 1.93m high × 0.92m wide × 0.29m thick. Situated on pasture land. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' Architectural heritage

• St. Mary's Catholic Church, church/chapel, 1880–1890 · Regional interest
  Description

  Freestanding five-bay Catholic church, dated 1885, with four-stage tower (on square-plan) to west, and sacristy to east. Pitched artificial slate roof with smooth rendered gable copings, skew blocks, finial cross and cast-iron rainwater goods. Tower with pyramidal slate spire, wrought-iron finial and parapet with cornice stringcourse to parapet of tower. Smooth rendered ruled-and-lined walls with smooth rendered plinth course; corner buttresses, ground floor channelling and stringcourses to tower. Pointed-arch headed window openings with Y-tracery, containing timber sashes, with hoodmouldings over. Pointed-arch door openings to tower with double-leafed timber panelled doors and with dated crest over north and south doors. Interior with timber altar rails, carved marble altar and reredos, timber panelled balustrade to gallery with cast-iron column supports, timber half glazed panelled doors to tower entrance porch with ornate timber framed coloured-glass surround. Set within own grounds with graveyard. Roughcast rendered wall to road with cast-iron gates mounted on roughcast rendered gate piers.

  Description

  Detached four-bay single-storey thatched outbuilding, dated 1948, with single-cell extension to corner. Rounded pitched straw-thatched roof with rope netting restraints and metal stays to eaves. corrugated-metal roof to extension. Random rubble walls. Crude date stone to north-east corner. Square-headed window openings with stone lintels and timber casement windows. Square-headed door openings with stone lintels, having battened timber and corrugated-metal doors. Set in grounds of single-storey vernacular farm house.

  Description

  Detached four-bay single-storey vernacular house, built c. 1820, with single-bay single extension to east, three-bay extension incorporating garage to west, and two-bay return to rear. Pitched fibre-cement tiled roofs with smooth rendered chimneystacks with terracotta pots, and smooth rendered eaves course; pitched corrugated-metal roof to west extension. Roughcast rendered walls. Square-headed window openings with one-over-one horned timber sash windows with margin panes to top and base; paired segmental-arch headed two-over-two horned timber sash windows with segmental glass pane over to east extension; six-over-six horned timber sash windows to west extension; timber casements to return. Square-headed door opening with battened timber door with glazed overlight. Set within own grounds with garden to rear, fronting directly onto street, with low roughcast rendered wall with modern gate mounted on smooth rendered piers. Single-cell rubble outbuilding with battened timber door. Located to the west of Greencastle.

• Glenburnie House, house, 1850–1860 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c. 1855, with paired two-storey canted bay windows and three-stage tower to central bay, recessed door opening, single-storey canted bay to north-east elevation and three-bay two-storey return to rear. Pitched slate roofs, terracotta ridge cresting, stepped smooth rendered chimneystacks with painted cut stone cornice-coping and polygonal pots, projecting eaves to gables, and replacement rainwater goods. Pyramidal slate roof on painted stone console brackets to tower. Square-headed window openings, basket-arched opening with stucco hoodmoulding to first floor and paired round-arched openings to tower, with one-over-one horned timber sash windows, and painted stone sills. Six-over-three, one-over-one and four-over-four horned timber sash windows to side elevations. Cast-iron columns with stiff-leafed capitals carrying projecting smooth rendered porch-cover. Depressed-arch headed door opening flanked by painted pilasters surmounted by overlight with stucco architrave surround. Double-leafed half-glazed timber panelled doors with frosted glass panels. Set within own grounds overlooking Glenburnie or Riverfoot Bay. Ground to front slopes down to bay with central red brick steps leading between plinth-mounted urns to gateway with wrought-iron gate mounted on tooled ashlar pyramidal gate-piers. Three-bay single-storey with half-dormer attic servants’ quarters, built c. 1870, to rear having pitched slate roof, smooth rendered walls, square-headed window openings with six-over-six horned timber sash windows and square-headed door opening with replacement half-glazed door. Further three-bay two-storey outbuilding and single-storey former outbuilding to north-east of property. Walled garden on rectangular plan to rear with high whitewashed rubble walls. Rendered castellated wall to south side of former driveway at rear. Located to the south-west of Greencastle overlooking Lough Foyle to the south.
