- DU022-115 Fulacht fia
Description
A burnt mound was identified during archaeological monitoring at Rathfarnham Golf-Club (Reid 2002, 116-117). It was located to the W of the Owendoher River. It was associated with several stone-filled pits one of which was a probable trough for a fulacht fiadh. Four posts were identified in the corners of this subrectangular pit. A sample of charcoal from the pit produced a date of 3700+_60BP.

Description
Detached five-bay two-storey over basement house, c.1820. Smooth rendered front wall, slate hung to sides and rere. Single-pane timber sash windows. Timber panelled door with flanking side lights and timber surround, all under wide plain fanlight. Approached by flight of steps. Hipped slate roof with two central rendered chimney stacks. Two-storey smooth rendered section to rere. Gateway entrance with small ruinous lodge to west.

Detached five-bay two-storey country house, c.1810. Roughcast rendered walls. Timber sash windows. Double leaf timber panelled door with flanking Composite columns and elaborate radial fanlight. Approached by flight of steps. Hipped slate roof behind parapet, with two flanking chimney stacks. Inside gateway entrances two large classical urns on plinths.

Description
Reservoir and water treatment works, established 1883, taking water from the Glenasmole Reservoirs upstream. Stone-lined reservoir and single-storey coursed rubble granite valve buildings, formerly supplied by sand filtration beds, now decommissioned but in-situ, including sluices. Replaced by rapid gravity filtration plant, c.1955, with associated two-storey flat-roofed building. Smooth rendered walls, casement windows and glazed timber door having glass block sidelights and decorative roundel above. Retains some interior features.

Detached six-bay two-storey house, c. 1820, on an L-plan. Built in two phases, four bays to west with further two bays to east. Roughcast rendered rubble walls. Large buttress to east wall. South gable partially slate hung. Timber sash windows to first floor. Timber casement below with traces of drip mouldings over. Projecting gabled porch with glass roof. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimney stacks. Rubble and brick boundary wall to street.

Detached five-bay two-storey over basement former country house, c.1770, now used as a school. Extended and remodelled in 1941. Smooth rendered walls with granite string courses, quoins and dressings to openings. Timber sash windows throughout. Diocletian window to first floor above central Venetian style doorway with replacement glazed timber door and double flight of steps. Five-bay rere elevation with central doorway having granite surround and simple scrolled pediment. Hipped slate roofs behind parapet, with two rendered chimney stacks. Five-bay two-storey extension to south in similar materials. Mature gardens to rere. Former farmyard to south.

Detached four-bay two-storey former stables, c.1760. Altered, c.1940, and now in use as a store. Roughcast rendered rubble stone walls, with coursed rubble buttresses to north front and gables. Blocked carriage arch and five timber doors with ventilation slits above to north front. Cast-iron wall ties. Pitched and hipped roof, slate to north, hayloft with corrugated metal roof to south facing farmyard.
