• GA102-001001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In undulating grassland. When initially visited by the Survey in November 1982, this poorly preserved subcircular rath (40m E-W; 33m N-S) was defined by a degraded bank. A field wall cut through the monument at W and E, and a gap at NW appeared to be modern. A T-shaped rise, encompassing some rock outcrop, was evident in the interior. When revisited in May 1992, the area to the N of the field wall had been totally levelled as a result of field clearance. To its S a grass-covered mound was visible; a lot of stone protruded from it.   Description

  In undulating pastureland. Holt (1912, 232, no. 21) noted 'some trace of an ancient road' to the E of a rath(GA102-001001-). This may be the trackway (L c. 58m; Wth c. 0.8m) noted by the Survey in May 1992 curving to the S from E sector of the rath.   Description

  In undulating pastureland, c. 60m to the SSE of a rath (GA102-001001-). This subrectangular raised area (L 28m; Wth 11.5m) is defined by a bank of earth and stone along the W side, a scarp along N and E sides and a field wall on the S side.   Description

  Description

  Poorly preserved subcircular cashel (32m NNW-SSE) defined by a collapsed drystone wall from SSE through W to NNW. A field wall cuts the monument at NNW and SSE and no visible surface trace of the enclosing element survives to NE of it.   Description

  Close to the summit of a low ridge overlooking marshland to the SW. This standing stone (H 1.5m; base Wth 1.15-1.2m narrowing to 0.37-1m at top) consists of a granite slab, roughly rectangular in plan and leaning to the SW. Partly displaced, it is aligned NE-SW.
