  Description

  In level pastureland. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure (D c. 50m). All that survives is a degraded scarp, intervening fosse and outer bank from NW through N to E. A vegetation band defines the monument elsewhere. The W section of the interior has been quarried out. Two ringforts (GA029-078----, GA029-079----) lie 30m to SW and 80m to SSW respectively.   Description

  Some 30m NW of a ringfort (GA029-079----). Well-preserved almost circular ringfort (N-S 38.9m, E-W 37.6m) defined by two banks of earth and stone and an intervening fosse. From NW to NNE a degraded scarp forms the inner enclosing element. The outer bank does not survive from NE to SE. Well-defined entrance at S. Within the interior is a probable souterrain (GA029-078001-). An enclosure (GA029-077----) lies c. 30m to NE.   Within NE quadrant of a ringfort (GA029-078----). This souterrain is indicated by an L-shaped linear depression (L c. 22m, Wth c. 5m) up to 1m in depth. The long axis (L c. 12.55m) runs NNE-SSW and the shorter axis (L 9.4m) extends of NW side and runs E-W.   On a gentle SW-facing slope in grassland. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a conjoined enclosure, each c. 30m in diameter. No visible surface trace survives of either N or S enclosure but a souterrain (GA029-080002-) is associated with N one. The lonument is referred to by Costello (1903, 4) as a 'double fort'. • GA029-080002 Souterrain
  Description

  Within the now destroyed N half of a conjoined ringfort (GA029-080----). A plan of this souterrain drawn up by Costello (1902b. 111) indicates that it consisted of two chambers connected by a creep and was roughly L-shaped in plan. Costello (1903, 4) noted that it was much-ruined, 'only one of the large roofing flags is left in the first chamber, but about half of the second chamber is still roofed'. No trace of Costello's 'first' chamber survives and only half of the 'second'. This chamber initially runs WSW-ENE and consists of a hollow (L 7.8m) with traces of drystone-walling along NW wall. At WSW end, it curves gently and continues on an E-W axis. Here the chamber (L 6.5m, Wth 1.9m) survives intact.   On N end of a ridge in grassland. Very poorly preserved overgrown circular ringfort (D 31m) defined by a bank and external fosse. The inner face of the bank is revetted with stone.   Description

  Within a ringfort (GA029-081----). Numerous small set stones are visible in the interior of the ringfort; the main concentration occupies a roughly rectangular area (E-W 15m, N-S 10m) in W sector and consists of small unworked pieces of limestone. A few small grave-markers are also visible inside the bank in S sector. • Gardenfield House, house, 1850–1870 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached five-bay two-storey house, built c.1860, westmost two bays of front being advanced. Hipped slate roof with rendered chimneystacks, wide eaves, and moulded cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered walls having render sill course to first floor, and render plinth. Segmental-headed window openings, triple to ground floor at west end with moulded render surrounds and one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows, ground floor window surrounds reaching ground. Double-leaf timber panelled entrance door with flanking sidelights and overlights set within deep recess having segmental-headed outer opening with moulded render surround, limestone steps.
