• KE068-004001 Children's burial ground
  Description

  In pasture, on a S-facing slope, with views S to The Paps of Dana. A raised rectangular area (18m E-W; 12m N-S), overgrown with bushes and briars, which according to local information was used for the burial of unbaptised babies during the famine times. Some stones, which may be grave-markers, were noted on the uneven surface of the raised area. It is named 'Children's Burial Ground' on the 1846 OS 6-inch map. This is the children's burial ground which was recorded in the 1940s in 'Páirc an tSéipéil' in Houlihan's land (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). A possible church (KE068-004004-) exists in the same field. A rath (KE068-103----) lies c. 90m to the NNE. • KE068-103 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, on a steep S-facing slope with views to The Paps of Dana. In the 1940s a rath, half of which was in Denis D. Houlihan's land and half in Denis J. Houlihan's land, was recorded in Stagmount (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). Only the W half of this rath is visible at ground level and consists of an arc of earthen bank (Wth 2.3m; int. H 1.4m; ext. H 1.5m) S-N abutting a recent linear field boundary at E (L 24m) and enclosing a D-shaped area (dim. 24m E-W). Breaks in the bank occur at S and NNW. Field-clearance rubble is placed haphazardly on and against the bank. The interior slopes down to the S. There are no visible remains of the E half of the rath. • KE068-113 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, on a SW-facing slope. According to local information, differential growth patterns were noted in the grass and other vegetation to the N and S of a recent field boundary. Differential vegetation colour in an aerial photograph (GSIAP, W 449-50), taken in 1977, indicates a circular enclosure (diam. c. 45m) in this location. This enclosure is not visible at ground level.
