  Located on a low N-S ridge on land that was once demesne land of Newtown House. The cropmark of a rectangular enclosure (int. dims c. 10m NW-SE; c. 10m NE-SW) defined by wide fosses (Wth c. 2m) at SW and NW only is visible only on Apple Maps, which utilises a survey conducted by Blue Sky International during June 2018. It is within the larger rectangular enclosure (LH022-052002-) and it is cut by the cropmark of an ENE-WSW field drain. The complex was reported separately by Anthony Murphy and Matthew Mullen-Reynolds around the same time. • LH022-052002 Enclosure
  Description

  Located on a low N-S ridge on land that was once demesne land of Newtown House. The cropmark of a rectangular enclosure (LH022-052001-) is within a larger rectangular enclosure with curved corners that is only visible on Apple Maps, which utilises a survey conducted by Blue Sky International during June 2018. The larger enclosure (dims c. 50m NNW-SSE; c. 50m ENE-WSW) is defined by slight fosses that are not visible at the E end of the N side or the W end of the S side but at E it curves outward to include the ring-ditch (LH022-052003-) within the enclosure. The incomplete rectangular enclosure (LH022-052001-) is in the interior and it is cut by the cropmark of an ENE-WSW field drain.   Located on a low N-S ridge on land that was once demesne land of Newtown House. The cropmark of a small enclosure (int. diam. c. 5m) defined by a slight fosse or ditch with an entrance at N is visible on Apple Maps, which utilises a survey conducted by Blue Sky International during June 2018. It may have a pit at the centre, and it is within the E boundary of the large rectangular enclosure (LH022-052001-) which swings E to avoid it. The cropmark of a circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) defined by a single fosse feature is faintly visible on Apple Maps, which utilises a survey conducted by Blue Sky International during June 2018.   Description

  Located on a low N-S ridge on land that was once demesne land of Newtown House. The cropmark of a small circular enclosure (diam. c. 10m) defined by a slight fosse or trench is visible only on Apple Maps, which utilises a survey conducted by Blue Sky International during June 2018. It has an entrance (Wth c. 3m) at E where the terminals of the trench widen. It is c. 40m SSW of the large rectangular enclosure (LH022-052001-) and the enclosure (LH022-053----) is c. 95m to the SSW.   Description

  Located on the W-facing slope of a low N-S ridge on land that was once demesne land of Newtown House. The cropmark of a circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) defined by a single fosse feature N-E-S is visible only on Apple Maps, which utilises a survey conducted by Blue Sky International during June 2018. The perimeter runs into deeper soil and a less mature crop S-W-N. It was reported separately by Matthew Mullen-Reynolds and Anthony Murphy at about the same time. • LH022-059 Enclosure
  Description

  Located on a fairly level landscape that was once demesne land of Newtown House. The cropmark of an oval enclosure (dims c. 45m NE-SW; c. 30m NNW-SSE) defined by a wide fosse (Wth c. 3m) is visible only on Apple Maps, which utilises a survey conducted by Blue Sky International during June 2018. The fosse can be seen only from NE-S-W but the rest of the perimeter is probably incorporated into a boundary with woodland bordering the old demesne. The narrower internal cropmark of a linear ditch is inside the fosse as straight sections at SE (L c. 22m) and S (L c. 20m). It was first reported by Matthew Mullen-Reynolds.   Description

  Detached three-bay two-storey former country house, built c. 1870, incorporating fabric of earlier eighteenth century building, now in use as adult education centre. Slightly projecting central bay to west with painted stone balustraded parapet, projecting single-storey dressed limestone entrance porch with ionic columns supporting limestone and cast-iron balustraded balcony, flanking single-storey canted bay windows; slightly projecting central bay with eaves pediment to south, single-storey limestone entrance porch, limestone and cast-iron balcony. Hipped slate roof, clay hip and ridge tiles, painted smooth rendered corbelled and banded chimneystacks, overhanging modillioned and bracketed eaves, moulded cast-iron gutters, circular cast-iron downpipes; lead-lined flat roofs to bay windows. Painted ruled-and-lined smooth rendered walling, slightly projecting chamfered plinth course and raised channelled quoins. Square-headed window openings, painted rendered surrounds with cornices, painted stone sills, uPVC casement windows, tripartite opening to first floor south elevation, tripartite round-headed window opening at first floor, west elevation, painted moulded window heads on fluted console brackets. Round-headed door opening to west, dressed limestone ashlar surround, rope moulding with keystone, painted timber surround, plain glazed fanlight over painted timber double doors, flanked by square-headed timber sliding sash windows; square-headed door opening to south dressed limestone pilasters, painted timber and glazed double doors. Interior with top-lit cantilevered staircase, hallway with fireplace set in niche and decorative plasterwork. Set within own grounds, located at end of long bitumen surfaced avenue, coursed rubble stone boundary wall with soldier coping, rock-faced limestone quadrants, rock-faced limestone piers with flat capstones, decorative cast-iron gates.
