- MA030-076 Ringfort - rath
Description
In pasture, located on rise at NW end of a NW-SE ridge. A rath (MA030-077----) is located c. 70m to NE. This possible rath is depicted on the 1837 and 1930 OS 6-inch maps as a roughly circular embanked enclosure (diam. c. 25m), incorporated into later field fences at E−S. There are no remains visible at ground level; the location is partly overlain by a modern house and garden. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 5 June 2018
- MA030-077 Ringfort - rath
Description
In undulating average pasture, located on top of a ridge, with good views. A possible rath (MA030-076----) is located c. 70m to SW. Raised circular area (diam. c. 30m) defined by a scarp (H 1.65m at W, 2m at S), outside which it is enclosed by a fosse (Wth 2-2.80m) with an external bank (Wth 4.6m; int. H 1.3m; ext. H 1.1m, at S). The fosse is well defined around the full circuit. The external bank remains substantial at SE-N, where it serves as a field boundary, but has been levelled at NE–SE. There is a low slumped break (Wth 3m) in the scarp at E, and at the SE there is a gap (Wth 1.3m), but it is not clear if either represents the original entrance. The level interior is covered in brambles, and the perimeter is ringed with ash and hawthorn. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 5 June 2018

Description
In pasture, located on a low rise, which provides good views over an expanse of lowlying grassland extending for several hundred meters to S–SW towards the Brusna River. Ground rises gently to N. A property boundary on a roughly N–S axis lies immediately to E. Slightly raised circular area (c. 28m N–S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.5-3m at S, c. 1.8m at N; int. H 0.3m at S, 0.2m at N; ext. H 1.5m at S, 0.8m at N). The bank is highest and most substantial on the S half, although it is eroded and low everywhere on its inner face. There are numerous narrow, eroded gaps, now blocked by overgrowth or by field clearance stones. Brambles and ferns cover much of the interior, with dense blackthorn in the W half; the bank is ringed with hawthorn and blackthorn. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 5 June 2018
