  Description

  In the SE corner of a pasture field, located on an island of gently elevated ground surrounded by poorly drained or boggy land. Shown on the 1837 OS 6-inch map as an oval embanked enclosure (max. dim. c. 20m), with a farmstead/cluster of vernacular buildings immediately to E. A very slight rise is evident in this part of the field, but otherwise there is no visible trace of the enclosure at ground level. The field is bordered on the S by an old E−W road/farm track, which may clip or overlie the S edge of the enclosure. Compiled by: Jane O’Shaughnessy Date of upload: 7 December 2020

  Description

  In improved pasture, located on the broad, undulating top of a ridge, providing good views over surrounding grassland and flat expanses of bog. The Sonnagh River skirts the base of the ridge, c. 180m to SW. This possible rath is shown on the 1837 and 1919 OS 6-inch maps as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m).
