• KE002-012 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Internal diameter 25m N-S, 23m E-W Lisnambroch/Lios na mBroc (ringfort of the badgers). This univallate rath consists of an oval-shaped inner area enclosed by an earthen bank and external fosse. The maximum external height measures 2.4m, the internal height measures 1.2m and the width at the base 6m. The fosse is well-defined for most of the site, except to the NE where it appears as only a slight waterlogged depression. Elsewhere it is deep and flat bottomed, measuring 2m-3m in width and c 1m below the height of the surrounding land. A 3m wide gap in the SE bank provides access to the interior.   Description

  Internal diameter 32m N-S, 34m E-W Lisnandaff/Lios na nDamh (ringfort of the oxen). This site is situated immediately E of a small stream which flows N. It consists of a roughly circular area enclosed by a well-defined earthen bank. The maximum external height is 1.8m, the internal height is 1m and the width of the bank at the base is c4m.   Description

  Internal diameter 29m SW-NE, 29m SE-NW Situated in good pastureland which is gently sloping N, this site has a good view of the surrounding land. It consists of a circular area which is enclosed by a high, well-defined bank and exterior fosse. The enclosing bank survives to an external height of 3.4m, 2.4m internally, and varies in width from 3m to 7m at the base. The fosse does not enclose the full site and is best preserved to the S through W, where it is flat bottomed, measuring 4m wide and 1m below the height of the surrounding land. • KE002-015 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Internal diameter 37m N-S, 30m E-W Situated in gently sloping pastureland, this site has an extensive view of the Shannon estuary. It consists of a sub-circular area enclosed by an earthen bank with a fosse to be noted to the NW through N to E. The enclosing bank is best preserved to the S- SE, where it measures 2m externally and 1.6m above the interior, the width of the bank at the base varying between 5m-8m. A flat-bottomed fosse can be traced from the NW through N to E, where it measures 3m in width and .6m below the surrounding land.   Description

  Lissamogha/Lios an Mhacha (ringfort of the milking-place). Marked on the 1841-42 and 1914 OS maps as a circular enclosure. This site has been completely levelled and no surface trace survives. • KE002-017 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Internal diameter 27m N-S, 27m E-W Lissamogha/Lios an Mhacha (ringfort of the milking-place). This circular univallate rath has an extensive view of the surrounding land and of the Shannon estuary to the N. It consists of a circular area enclosed by an earthen bank; to the NW to W the bank only survives as a platform rising 1.2m above the surrounding land. It is best preserved to the E, where it measures 1.8m above the interior. The width of the bank varies between 3m-6m at the base. A shallow fosse is to be noted from the N through E to S, which measures 2m in width and .5m below the surrounding land. • KE002-024 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Internal diameter 32m N-S, 30m E-W This circular univallate rath is situated on gently sloping land. The enclosing earthen bank is up to 1.2m high externally and .6m above the interior, with the width of the bank at the base 5m on average. The fosse encloses most of the site except to the NW and SE; elsewhere it appears as a low, flat- bottomed depression measuring c 3m in width and .6m below the surrounding land.
