Description
In pasture 150m E of the townland boundary with Effin. Depicted as a circular shaped earthwork on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. It is shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised oval-shaped area (dims. c. 29m NE-SW; 24m NW-SE) defined by a scarp. Monument is visible as roughly circular-shaped area enclosed by a bank with traces of a possible external fosse on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13. Levelled monument is visible as a circular-shaped cropmark on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimage dated 16/03/2016 where it is truncated at W by a field drain running NE-SW. Description
In reclaimed pasture 65m S of the townland boundary with Thomastown and 100m W of the townland boundary with Tobernae Middle. Partially indicated on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a field boundary curving from S-W-N. Depicted on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as an oval-shaped area (dims. c. 40m NE-SW; 30m NW-SE) enclosed by a bank from NW-N-E reduced to a scarp which forms a field boundary from S-W-NW. Intersected at NW by field boundary running NW-SE and at S by field boundary running NW-SE. Levelled monument is visible as a circular-shaped cropmark on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages. See attached Google Earth orthoimages. Description
Detached three-bay two-storey former presbytery, built c. 1820, comprising gable-fronted projecting end bay and recent porch to front (south) elevation and lean-to to rear (north) elevation. Hipped artificial slate roof, rendered chimneystacks and timber bargeboards. Roughcast rendered walls with render stringcourse. Square-headed openings having one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows and limestone sills. Round-headed opening to rear with two-over-two pane timber sliding sash window. Square-headed opening to porch having timber panelled door. Square-headed obscured by porch having glazed overlight over timber panelled door. Single-bay single-storey outbuilding to north-east with single-pitched corrugated-iron roof. Rubble limestone walls. Camber-headed opening with brick block-and-start surround, fixed window and concrete sill. Pair of square-profile lined-and-ruled rendered piers having ball finials to caps, double-leaf cast-iron gates and cast-iron railings set in rendered plinths terminating in second pair of piers.
