Description
A subrectangular enclosure (max. dims. c. 80m E-W; c. 41m N-S), in low-lying wet land, defined by a scarp with some traces of a bank (Wth c. 3.8m; int. H c. 0.2m, ext. H c. 3.5m) and an external fosse (Wth c. 4.8m, D c. 1.6m). No visible evidence of original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Laois' (Dublin Stationery Office, 1995) compiled by P. David Sweetman, Olive Alcock and Bernie Moran. Description
In tillage. Portion of a field system which pre-dates the 19th-century field system on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map. The field boundaries are visible as cropmarks on Google Earth (imagery date 28 June 2018), identified and reported by Simon Dowling. It consists of a field boundary running NNW-SSE (L c. 280m) with field boundaries running eastward from this boundary.
