Description
In level pasture, abutting field boundary to S. Circular area (diam. 31m) defined by low earthen bank (Wth 7.3m; int. H 0.35m; ext. H 0.75m), reduced to scarp NW-N-NE. External fosse (basal Wth 1.5m; top Wth 7.2m; D 0.45m) visible, except where waterlogged NW-N-ESE. Interior has slight tilt downslope to NNE. Field boundary respects monument ESE-S-SW. Description
In pasture, on upper edge of E-facing slope. Circular area (dims. 22m N-S; 23m E-W) defined by earthen scarp (Wth 4.5m; H 1.95m), breached (Wth 4m) at SE. Fosse (Wth 6.5m; D 0.5m) is inaccessible in places due to vegetation cover. External bank (Wth 10m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.7m) tilts gently inwards on top toward fosse and is incorporated into 20th century field boundary SSE-S-SSW. Breach (Wth 10m) at ESE as depicted on latest edition OS 6-inch map. Interior level and grass covered with numerous thorn trees. Ringforts (TS069-013---- and TS069-015----) are c. 140m to WSW and 265m to NE respectively. Description
In pasture, on a gentle S facing slope. Raised earthen enclosure (dims. 23m N-S; 25m E-W) defined by earthen bank (Wth 9.95m; int H 0.8m; ext H 2.9m). Entrance (Wth 8.75m) at S. Intervening fosse (Wth 8.85m; D 1.35m) SSW-N-SSE. Outer bank (Wth 12.95; int H 2.15m; ext H 1.95) SSW-N-SSE and opens out into a bailey (dims. 24m N-S; 15m E-W) which is semi-circular in shape. Interior has slight tilt downslope to S. Monument deeply poached by horses. Enclosures (TS069-020---- and TS069-011001-) located 370m to ESE and 440m to W respectively. Description
In pasture, on an S-facing slope. Triangular area (dims. 58m NNW-SSE; 50m E-W) with three straight sides, at NE (L 44m), SE (L 44m) and W (L 58m) and rounded corners at N, E & S. Remains of enclosing bank (Wth 8.7m; int H 0.3m; ext H 1.88m) SSW-W-N, reduced to scarp (Wth 4m-4.5m; H 1.6-1.8m) along NE and SE sides. External fosse (Wth 7.75m; D 1.05m) along SE and SW sides, infilled at S-corner. Interior tilts downslope to S. Shared fosse (Wth 6.75m; D 0.8m) between enclosure (TS069-020----) and previously unrecorded enclosure (TS069-020001-) exists along N-corner and NE-side, however is infilled slightly NW-N. Traces of an external bank exist in places along SE-side. Enclosure (TS069-021----) c. 250m to NE and enclosures (TS069-075---- and TS069-075001-) c. 120m to SSE. Description
In pasture, on a gentle-S-facing slope, adjoining enclosure (TS069-020---) to S. Identified during field inspection (29/01/2007). Irregular shaped enclosure (dims. 25m N-S; 72m E-W) defined by earth and stone bank (int. H 1.1m; ext. H 1.9m; Wth 8.05m) reduced to scarp in places. Description
In tillage, c. 230m N of the Aughvetsy Stream (named on the 1st (1840) ed. OS 6-inch map), flowing roughly E-W. A circular enclosure (overall diam. c. 65m) visible as a cropmark on satellite imagery (2021 Maxar Technologies, viewed May 2021), identified and reported by Jean-Charles Caillère. There are two conjoined enclosures (TS069-020----; TS069020001-) immediately to the E-SE, an enclosure (TS069-021----) c. 290m to the NE, enclosures (TS069-075----; TS069075001-) c. 210m to the SE and a ringwork and bailey (TS069-019----) c. 190m to the NW.
