Description
On a level landscape near the SW shore of Lough Curry (diam. c. 100m), which is a rectangular lake (dims. c. 400m N-S; c.150m E-W) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. Circular grass-covered mound (diam. c. 15m; H 0.8m) which would have been within the lake. The possible rath (RO017-154----) is c. 120m to the WSW. Description
Marked as a circular wooded area (diam. c. 40-45m) on the 1837 and 1914 eds. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a level landscape c. 80m N of Smith Hill House. This is the remains of a tree-ring (diam. c. 40m) in the parkland of Kinard House, which was built c. 1790 and is situated c. 370m to the SW. An arc of the perimeter survives SW-W-NE (C c. 40m). Marked as a wooded enclosure (diam. c. 40-50m) on the 1837 and 1914 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated towards the top of a N-facing slope, c. 500m E of Kinard House and c. 250m SE of Smith Hill House. Description
Detached three-bay two-storey country house, later used as rectory, built c.1790, with return to rear. Now in use as private dwelling. Hipped slate roof with limestone chimneystacks. Roughcast-rendered walls. Replacement uPVC windows and tooled limestone sills. Round-headed window opening to first floor above doorway. Recent glazed porch to front elevation. Round-headed doorway with tooled stone surround comprising fluted pilasters and keystone containing spoked fanlight and timber panelled door flanked by two sidelights (now blocked up). Cast-iron entrance gate flanked by rendered piers and sweeping walls. Cut-stone piers to east of house gives access to modernized outbuildings to rear yard.
