Description
Towards the bottom of a N-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 50m NNW-SSE; 42.2m ENE-WSW) defined by an earthen bank (at WSW: Wth 6m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.4m) SSW-NW and a scarp (at ENE: H 0.65m) elsewhere. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance, and the perimeter is truncated slightly by an ENE-WSW field bank at S. The proposed development will consist of: • Replacement (“restringing”) and uprating of the conductor along the existing Athlone-Lanesboro 110 kV OHL circuit; • Provision of fibre communication connection on the uprated circuit; • Replacement of 155No. Intermediate Wooden Polesets (IMPs), with similar structures, including poleset stays at 32No. IMPs. The change in structures will result in standardised heights from 16m to 23m along the circuit, the majority of height increases will be between 0.1m and 2.0m (at 125 No. IMPs), with the remainder between 2.1m and 3.7m, and a 4.0m height increase at only one IMP. 3no. IMP replacements will not result in a height change; • Replacement of 25No. Intermediate Wooden Poleset crossarms; • Replacement of 1No. steel angle mast, the replacement structure will result in a height increase of 0.5m; • Foundation strengthening of 9No. steel angle masts, and 1No. end mast; • Bar member replacements to 12No. steel angle masts and 1No. end mast; and, •All associated development including insulator/hardware replacement (suspension clamps and vibration dampers), replacement of signage, painting of angle masts, replacement/installation of anticlimbing guards, access tracks, vegetation clearance, temporary construction compounds and all other works necessary to facilitate the development. Towards the bottom of a gentle N-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 41.8m E-W; 40m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.4-4.7m; int. H 0.3-0.6m; ext. H 0.95-1.5m), with a fosse (Wth of top 6.4m; Wth of base 2m; D 0.3m) SW-W. The entrance (Wth 1.5m) is at W, and there are lazy-beds and small clearance cairns in the interior. At the crest of the NE-facing slope of a hill. Circular overgrown area (diam. c. 39m WNW-ESE) defined by an overgrown earth and stone bank (at ESE: Wth 5.8m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.8m) with intermittently visible facing-stones (at WSW: Wth of wall 2m). There is an entrance (Wth 2.3m) at ENE, but there is no visible fosse. Description
Marked as a circular area on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and as a rectangular one on the 1915 ed. and described as Lisnabostha in italic lettering on both. Situated on a low hillock in an undulating landscape. This is a rectangular grass-covered platform (dims 18.4m NE-SW; 16m NW-SE) defined by a scarp (H 0.45m at NW to 1.15m at SE) with numerous limestone grave-markers and a prominent stone with a triangular cross-section (dims 0.45m x 0.3m; H 0.7m) at the centre. Marked faintly as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 35m) on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a SW-facing slope.
