  Description

  Marked as a small enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on the 1837 and 1915 eds. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a low-lying, level landscape. • RO044-045001 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  Situated on a N-facing slope and first recorded by Gannon (1972). Circular grass-covered area (diam. 41.3m E-W; 39m N-S) defined by a grass-covered stone spread (at N: Wth 6.5m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1m) NW-E-SE with facing-stones (Wth of wall 1.8-2m) visible at N and E. The perimeter is defined by a drystone field wall SE-W-NW. There is an entrance (Wth 1.5m) at NNE. The W part of the interior is raised (H 0.7m) and contains souterrain (RO044-045002-). Rath (RO044-046001-) is c. 185m to the NE. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

• RO044-045002 Souterrain
  Description

  Within cashel (RO045-045001-), in the raised W part and just inside the perimeter at NW. This is a passage (L 7.2m E-W; Wth 1.4m; max. surviving H 0.75m) oriented E-W with drystone walls and a corbelled and lintelled roof, which has some lintels in place. A small opening (Wth 0.58m; H 0.42m; D 0.6m) on the N side of the passage may be a creep leading to another blocked passage. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

• RO044-046001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Towards the bottom of a N-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 31.1m E-W; 29.5m N-S) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 4-5.4m; int. H 0.1-0.35m; ext. H 0.1m at S (upslope) to 1m at N) with some bushes. There is no visible fosse, but the entrance (Wth 1.5m) is at NE. Souterrain (RO044-046002-) is inside the perimeter at NW.   Description
