Description
On a shelf on a SE-facing slope. Circular rush and scrub-covered area (diam. c. 30m) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 4.7m at N to 5.9m at S; int. H 0.4m at S to 1.5m at N; ext. H 1.2m) and fosse (Wth of base 2.5-3m; D 0.4-0.6m) S-W-N, but the perimeter is reduced to a scarp (H 0.8-1.15m) elsewhere. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 31.5m N-S; 29.5m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.25m at SW to 1.2m at E) which is incorporated in a field bank and hedge N-SSE, with an outer fosse (Wth of base 2.8m; D 0.2-0.4m) N-SSE. Description
On the lower SW-facing slope of a NE-SW drumlin. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 35.8m N-S; 34.8m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.3m at W to 6.3m at S; int. H 0.35m at W to 1.05m at E; ext. H 0.65m at E to 1.2m at N and S), with an outer fosse (Wth of base 4-5.5m; D 0.5m generally to 1.3m at NE) N-ENE which is continued by a band of rushes (Wth 2.3-4m) elsewhere. On a low rise c. 140m from the E shore of Lough Corry. Circular overgrown area (diam. c. 38m) defined by a scarp (H 0.4-1m), with an outer fosse (Wth of base 3m; D 0.2-0.4m) NE-S-NW. Description
Marked only on the 1914 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on the S bank of the River Shannon at a point where there may have been a ford. A grass and scrub-covered earthen bank (Wth 16-19m; H 1m at S to 4-6m on the N (river) side) running ESE-WNW (L c. 250m), parallel with and hindering access to the bank of the river. It may be part of the Doon of Drumsna (RO011-058----), the W end of which is c. 2.8 km to the ENE with an intervening section of double banks (RO011-188----) on the SE bank of the river c. 1.7km to the ESE. Description
Marked as a subcircular embanked enclosure on the 1837 and 1914 (ext. dims c. 40m N-S; c. 35m E-W) eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on top of a low rise in a low-lying landscape. Towards the top of the E-facing slope of a drumlin overlooking the River Shannon, c. 180m to the NE. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 38m) defined by a scarp (H 0.2m at NW to 0.9m at S), with an outer fosse (Wth of base 2.5m; D 0.3-0.4m) NE-SE. There is no visible entrance. A NE-SW field bank overlies the monument towards the perimeter at NW, and a hedge is on the perimeter N-SE while a WNW-ESE field bank is just to the SW of the perimeter at SW. On the N-facing slope of a slight NE-SW drumlin ridge. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 25m E-W; 23.5m N-S) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.3-0.5m; ext. H 0.7-1m) E-S-W and an overgrown scarp (H 0.8m generally to 1.25m at N) elsewhere, with an outer fosse (Wth of base 3m at NW to 3.8m at S; D 0.2-0.3m) E-W-N. There is no visible entrance. Description
Situated in improved pasture on a gentle SW-facing slope. It was first identified by Susan Curran as part of an M.A. thesis with University College Dublin using a LiDAR survey dataset commissioned by Leitrim County Council and the National Roads Authority. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 32m N-S; 32m E-W) defined by intermittent traces of a low earthen bank (at NE: Wth of base 7m; Wth of top 2.8m; int. H 0.1m; ext. H 0.3m) W-NW, NE-ENE and SE-S. The bank is absent NW-NE and S-W, and there is no visible fosse or entrance. A NNE-SSW field bank that was just to the W has been removed.
