  Description

  Marked only on the 1914 ed. of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a level landscape. D-shaped grass-covered area with the straight edge at S (dims 20.5m NE-SW; 18m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.5m at WSW to 7.8m at NW; int. H 0.5-0.8m; ext. H 0.8m) WSW-WNW, and elsewhere by a scarp (H 0.6m). There is no visible fosse or entrance. Cashel (RO016-030001-) is c. 100m to the S. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

• RO016-030001 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  Marked only on the 1914 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as conjoined enclosures (diam. c. 25m), and situated on a terrace overlooking lower ground to the S and SE. Circular grass-covered area (diam. c. 58m) defined by a grass-covered stone spread (Wth 3-5m; H 0.3-1m) WSW-N-E, and elsewhere by a partly natural scarp. There is no visible entrance, but its SE quadrant is overlain by walls of a subrectangular field (RO016-030002-) (int. dims 25.4m N-S; 21.2m E-W) defined by a stone spread (Wth 1-1.4m; H 0.2m) which has pushed out the perimeter of the cashel E-S, with traces of a second field attached to the S. There is a local tradition of human bones being found in the interior c. 1900. Rath (RO016-029----) is c. 100m to the N. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010

  Description

  Marked only on the 1914 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as conjoined enclosures (diam. c. 25m), and situated on a terrace overlooking lower ground to the S and SE. Cashel (RO016-030001-) is overlain by the walls of a subrectangular field (int. dims 25.4m N-S; 21.2m E-W) defined by a stone spread (Wth 1-1.4m; H 0.2m) which has pushed out the perimeter of the cashel E-S, with traces of a second field attached to the S.   Description

  On a slight rise in a gently undulating landscape. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 33m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5m; int. H 0.5-0.8m; ext. H 1.6m) which is reduced to a scarp (H1.1m) NE-SSE, separated by a fosse (Wth of top 6-6.5m; Wth of base 2.5-4.7m; D 0.55-0.7m) from an outer bank (Wth 3.7m; ext. H 0.4m) which only survives ESE-SSW.
