  Description

  Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 50m) on the 1837 and 1915 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated on a gentle SE-facing slope. A short section of bank (Wth 7.2m; int. • RO042-080 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a W-E spur towards the bottom of an E-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims 34.7m N-S; 30.4m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.6-4.4m; int. H 0.35-0.55m; ext. H 0.6-0.8m), with traces of an outer fosse (Wth of top 3.3m; Wth of base 1m; D 0.35m) W-NW. The most likely entrance (Wth 2.6m) is at NE, and some slight traces of field banks overlie the interior.   Description

  Marked as a circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 50m) on the 1837 and 1915 eds of the OS 6-inch map, and situated towards the bottom of a NE-facing slope. It is not visible at ground level in pasture, but is visible as a circular area (diam. c. 40m) defined by a slight fosse on aerial photograph (ASIAP (163) 27,31).   Description

  On the ENE-facing slope of a hill. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 35.8m NNE-SSW) defined by an earthen bank with some bushes (Wth 3.2-3.7m; int. H 0.25-0.65m; ext. H 1.05-1.3m), which has been quarried WSW-N, and a fosse (Wth of top 4.6m; Wth of base 2m; D 0.95m) SE-SW. The entrance (Wth 2.4m) is at E. Rath (RO042-087----) is c. 90m to the S.   Description

  Towards the top of the E-facing slope of a hill. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 38.7m NE-SW; 37.2m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank with some bushes (Wth 6-6.7m; int. H 0.9-1.45m; ext. H 2.55-3.05m) separated by a rounded fosse (Wth of top 7.6-7.8m; Wth of base 1.8-2m; ext. D 1.5-1.6m) from an outer bank (Wth 1-3m; ext. H 0.2m). The entrance (Wth 2.4m) and causeway (Wth 4m) are at E, but there is a modern entrance at SSE, while the fosse is partly backfilled and the outer bank is missing SE-W (max. ext. diam. 57m NW-SE).   Description

  On a gentle S-facing slope. Sandfield House, which was built c. 1710, incorporates numerous punch-dressed quoins from the tower house (RO042-136----) c. 180m to the SE. • RO042-136001 Castle - unclassified
  Description

  Lisdalon was an O'Kelly centre (O'Donovan 1843, 112-3) in the 15th century and it is listed in 1585. A garrison was maintained by Sir Richard Bingham at Lisdalaun in the 1590s (Cronin 1980, 116), and a castle is marked at Lisdallon on the Strafford map of c. 1636, although no land there was forfeited in the 1650s (Simington 1949, 114-5, Athlone (328)). Situated at the bottom of a NW-facing slope. This is a subrectangular grass-covered rubble mound (dims 27m NW-SE; 21m NE-SW) with an uneven surface (max. H 1.65m). Quoinstones from this structure were re-used in building Sandfield House, c. 180m to the WNW, where there are other architectural fragments (RO042-116----).   Description

  Description

  On a slight S-facing slope and just S of an ENE-WSW field bank. This is a small cairn (dims c. 1.5m E-W; c. 1m N-S; H c. 0.1m) with a fragment of a headstone (dims 0.2m x 0.24m; T 0.15m)commemorating Nann Conyly. There is no date but stylistically the incised legend is late 17th century or early 18th century. It reads: Pray for the soul/ of Nann Co/ nayly.
