  On the summit of a drumlin. Circular grass-covered domed area (diam. 22m; H 0.6m) separated by a fosse (Wth of base 3-3.5m; D 0.2-0.4m) from the remains of an earthen bank (Wth 3-3.5m; int. • RO006-086001 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  On a terrace towards the bottom of a N-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (int. dims 32.5m E-W; 27.3m N-S) defined by a grass-covered stone spread (Wth 3.5-4m generally to 5.4m at E; int. H 0.2-0.3m; ext. H 0.5-0.8m) with intermittently visible facing stones. There is a gap (Wth 4m), probably damage, at SW, and a grass-covered cairn (dims 7.4m E-W; 5.2m N-S; H 0.2m) at the centre.   At the W edge of a shelf on a N-facing slope. An arc (C c. 10m) of a grass-covered earth and stone bank (Wth 4.3m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.8-1.1m) survives ENE-SE of a circular area (diam. c. 28m) defined elsewhere by a slight scarp. Cashel (RO006-086003-) is c. 30m to the S.   Description

  On a rise at the W edge of a shelf on a N-facing slope. Circular grass-covered area (int. diam. 41.4m N-S; 40m E-W) defined by a rebuilt stone wall (Wth 3.7-4m; int. H 0.8-1.2m; ext. H 1.2-2m) with an extensive external spill (Wth of spill 4m at E to 7m at N; H 0.6m at N to 1.4m at W). There is an entrance (Wth 0.6m), which is not original, at SE (max. ext. dims 62.4m N-S; 57m E-W). Field walls from the field system (RO006-086008-) overlie the spill and attach to the re-built wall of the cashel at N, NE and SE. A house site (RO006-086010-) (int. dims 8m E-W; 32.5m N-S) defined by the base of a double-faced stone wall (Wth 0.9-1.1m; max. H 0.4m) is associated with the field walls and is just E of the cashel.   Towards the top of a N-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (int. dims 31m E-W; 26m N-S) defined by the base of a stone wall (original Wth 1.7-2m; H 0.3m) represented by intermittently visible inner and outer facing stones, with an entrance (Wth 2.2m) at ESE. At the centre there is a circular hut-site (RO006-086011-) (int. diam. 9.6m E-W; 8.6m N-S) defined by a grass-covered stone spread (Wth 1-2m; max. H 0.3m) but with no recognisable entrance.   Description

  At the E edge of a shelf on a N-facing slope. Subcircular grass-covered area (int. dims 27.3m E-W; 21.4m N-s) defined by a grass-covered stone spread (Wth 2.5-3.3m; int. H 0.1-0.3m; ext. H 0.3-0.6m). There is an entrance (Wth 1.2m), perhaps recent, at SE, and there is a hut-site (RO006-086009-) (int. diam. 3.4m) defined by a grass-covered stone spread (Wth 0.7-2m; H 0.2m) at the centre. The site is overlain by a N-S field wall W of the centre, and survives best W of this feature. Cashel (RO006-086004-) is c. 150m to the W and enclosure (RO006-098006-) is c. 90m to the SE.   On a shelf on a N-facing slope. Rectangular grass-covered area (int. dims 30m E-W; 20m N-S) defined by a low cliff rising over it (H 2m) at S, a field wall at E, and a grass-covered stone spread (Wth 2-3m; H 0.3m) at W and N.   Description

  On a N-facing slope with a number of terraces. An area of c. 30 ha has the remains of a field system consisting of rectangular fields (dims. c. 100m x c. 50m) defined by grass-covered earthen banks or scarps (Wth c. 2m; H 0.2m), or the base of stone walls. A relict field wall overlies cashel (RO006-068001-) and walls also overlie the spill of cashel (RO006-086003-).   Description

  Visible on aerial photographs (OS 1, 3323-2), and situated on a shelf on the slight N-facing slope of a ridge. Subrectangular grass-covered area (dims 7.8m E-W; 3.5m N-S) defined by an earthen bank (Wth. 2.2-3.8m; H 0.1-0.3m). There is an entrance (Wth. 3m) at SSE. Archaeological excavation (08E0007) recovered only a short section of a ditch (L 1.1m; Wth 0.3-0.55m; D 0.14m) and evidence of seven post-holes leading the excavator to suggest that it may have been a ritual rather than domestic site (Tierney 2011). • RO006-128 Enclosure
  Description

  Visible on aerial photographs (OS 1, 3322), and situated in a fold of the gentle N-facing slope of a ridge. This is a rectangular grass-covered area (dims 31.4m N-S; 27.6m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.05-0.65m) at N and S and a moat or ditch (Wth of top 4.8-7.5m; D 0.5-0.6m) at E and W. Archaeological testing (19E0276) by A. Wallace and N. Fitch on the line of a water-pipe excavated a large area (dims c. 35m E-W; c. 10m N-S) including sections through the ditch at W (Wth 2.45m; max. D 0.75m) and E (Wth 2.2m; max. D 0.9m), but the two fills in the W and the three in the E ditches were sterile. There was a small bank (Wth 1.9-2m; int. H 0.15m) inside the W ditch, and there were nine irregularly spaced post-holes in the interior. A burnt spread (dims 1.55m x 0.9m; max. D 0.21m) inside the W bank produced a C14 date of 4344-4234 cal. BC, which is probably the only reliable dating evidence. A barbed-and-tanged arrowhead, recovered in the initial clean-back of the top of the ditch at W, and two flint flakes were the only artefacts recovered (excavations.ie 2019:730).
