Description
Situated on a W-facing slope of rising ground in undulating countryside. Depicted as a small enclosure bisected by a road on a N-S axis on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map. Not visible at ground level. A kink in the field fence probably indicates the line of the original enclosing bank. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Tipperary. Vol. 1 - North Tipperary' compiled by Jean Farrelly and Caimin O'Brien (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2002). Description
Situated on a slight SE-facing slope of a low N-S ridge overlooking the nearby Black River to the SE. A circular area (diam. 45m NE-SW) enclosed by an earth and stone bank (Wth 1.5-3m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.7-1.2m) and outer fosse (Wth 2.2m; D 0.5m) with possible entrance gap (Wth 2.5m) at SE. A modern gap occurs in the bank at NE.
