- CL015-061 Ringfort - cashel
Description
In scrubby pasture on the summit of ridge aligned E-W with panoramic views hindered by dense vegetation. Hachured on the 1840 OS 6-inch map. A subcircular cashel with an angular NE quadrant (int. 26.5m N-S; 26m E-W) defined by a partially collapsed drystone wall (Wth at base 2m; Wth at top 1.75m; int. H 1.65m; ext. H 2m) encircled by a band of collapsed rubble (Wth 1-2m). Large stones predominate in the lower courses with small stones in the upper courses. The W side of the monument is completely overgrown. Four modern cattle gaps run through the wall and the location of the original entrance is unclear. The interior slopes gently down to the SE and has no visible features. - CL015-064 Ringfort - rath

The later map depicts a bivallate enclosure. An oval enclosure (int. 24.5m N-S; 29m E-W) defined by a low earthen bank (H 0.15m; Wth 2.5-3m). A possible entrance exists at the SE. The interior is dished and covered in rushes. Compiled by: Mary Tunney and Eve Campbell Date of upload: 14 August 2023
- CL015-065 Ringfort - cashel
Description
In pasture on the highest point of a ridge aligned E-W with panoramic views in all directions. Hachured on the 1840 and 1916 OS 6-inch maps. An oval cashel (35.5m E-W; 29.3m N-S) defined by a wide bank of stone collapse (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.5-4m; Wth 1.5-4m) with suggestions of an external fosse (Wth 2-3m) at E. No internal wall-face is evident, but from SE to W there is part of an outer wall-face comprising a single course of large boulders (H 0.55m). Two short stretches of terracing are present at S and SSW at a distance of 1.2m and 3m from the base of the cashel wall and may related to terracing around the monument. Two shallow depressions (Wth 2-3m) either side of the entrance suggest a fosse. There is an entrance causeway to the E (Wth 1.9-2.9m) flanked internally by a line of stones. The interior of the monument slopes gently down to the E. The interior is scattered with stone and has a telegraph pole.
