• CL015-002 Enclosure
  Description

  In a farmyard in undulating marshy pasture, on a S-facing slope with clear views to the S. Hachured on the 1840 and 1916 eds. OS 6-inch maps. A subcircular enclosure (int. dims. 24.5m N-S; 25.5 E-W) defined by a single stone wall (Wth 0.3m; int. H 0.5-1m; ext. H 0.8-1m) with a bank of collapsed material around its base (Wth 1.5m). Two modern gaps are located at E and SSE and the wall is partly overgrown at W and S. The nearby house is unoccupied but the farmyard is still in use. A shed has been built against the perimeter at NE. A rath (CL015-003---) is located c. 260m to the E. Compiled by: Mary Tunney and Eve Campbell Date of upload: 5 September 2022

• CL015-003 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a gentle rise in low-lying marshy pasture, immediately N of a small stream. Overlooked by higher ground on all sides. Hachured on the 1840 and 1916 eds. OS 6-inch maps. A bivallate oval rath (est. 66m E-W; 47m N-S) comprising a raised internal area (28m N-S) defined by an inner bank (Wth 4.5m; int. H 0.3-1m; ext. H 2-2.3m) and scarp, a flat-based fosse (Wth 5.5-8m), and an outer bank (Wth 4-6.5m; int. H 0.3-2.6m). To the S the inner bank has been reduced to a scarp and the fosse and outer ditch peter out, and based on orthophotography the monument appears to be truncated here by a post-medieval field drain carrying a small stream. A gap through the inner (Wth 3.1m) and outer (Wth 2m) banks at NNW may be original, although no trace of a causeway is evident. The interior is heavily overgrown, but in the SW sector a low mound is visible, possibly representing a collapsed building. • CL015-124 Enclosure
  Description

  In scrubby marshy pasture on the W bank of a stream with clear views to the S. Partially depicted on the 1916 OS 6-inch map as a curved field boundary. A subcircular enclosure (diam. 18m) defined by drystone wall (H 1m) to the W and an overgrown collapsed wall footing from N to SW. No enclosing element is present from WNW to N.   Description

  In coarse marshy pasture on a SE-facing slope c. 30m S of a stream. A subcircular enclosure (31m NW-SE) defined by a shallow depression (Wth 2-3m) from NW to SSE and by a band of dark vegetation from SSE to NW.
