  Description

  In pasture, on NW-facing slope. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 23m) on 1841 OS but with enclosing element absent W->NE on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. According to local information it took the form of a low platform covered by trees and bushes, and c. 1.5m H, which was levelled in 1987.   Description

  In undulating pasture, atop low hillock. Monument, depicted as circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. However, it is still apparent as circular hollow (D c. 0.2m; 14m N-S; 13m E-W) enclosed by low rise (max. H c. 0.2m; Wth c. 10m), c. 7m outside of which is concentric dip (Wth c. 3.5m; D c. 0.2m) NE->ESE. Immediately outside dip is another low rise (H c. 0.1m; Wth c. 10m).   Description

  In undulating pasture. Monument, depicted as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1841 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. However, a faint trace of its outline is discernable as a circular area (29m N-S; 31.6m E-W) defined by scarped edge (H 0.2m; Wth 1m) with external fosse (Wth c. 3m) and external bank (Wth c. 4m; H c. 0.2m). The earthwork is intersected by field boundary at NW and by a roadway from N through to E.   Description

  Detached four-bay single-storey former national school, dated 1885, having gabled entrance block to front (west) elevation and lean-to to south elevation. Now in use as house. Pitched tiled roof with rendered chimneystack and timber eaves course. Rendered walls with rusticated plaque inscribed: "BALLYGOUGHLAN [sic] NATIONAL SCHOOL 1885". Square-headed openings with render sills and six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows to west and north elevations. Square-headed opening to west of gabled block having render sill and replacement uPVC window. Square-headed openings to lean-to with timber framed windows. Square-headed opening to south elevation of gabled block having replacement uPVC door. Pair of cut tooled limestone piers flanking single-leaf cast-iron gate to west of building, adjoining rubble stone boundary wall.
